Hi, may I know what's the function of a kaki washer and is it necessary to use?
Heard that by using it, corals especially LPS will open big ?
Thanks
LOL. I really laugh out loud when I saw kaki washer.
Kalwasser is pickle lime. it delivers equal calcium and alkalinity when dosed. usually used thru top off water.

but to answer ur qtn but not to encourage you, here's a tank :
-
buy any fish from here :
sure won't buy anymore. in fact will sell ur other fishes to take care of whatever fish u buy.

thats true. thanks for the pointer. too tempting to keep tinkering and trying to reach the magical zero readings. My experience with nano/pico tanks is that the more you tinker or add stuff like equipment, GFO etc, the harder it is to keep your water parameters stable.
Your weekly wc is already enough. If you reduce too much nutrients your sps will starve out also. Just sharing my experience.
Btw, are you dosing 2 part daily?
im not dosing two part. using kalk in top off. so far can keep up with ca/kh uptake cause not too many corals in my tank.
the tabling acro actually just RTN last night as u mentioned about tinkering and harder to keep parameters in check.
thanks for the advices.

Skimmer? Does it come with sponge at the output?
if I were you I would skip the skimmer with more WC instead.
Yep skimmer. Actually no sponge at the output. I didnt even think about that actually.
I am already changing 50% water every week considering the small water volume.
I bought the skimmer to see if nutrients can drive down further and vinegar dose also.

http://reef.diesyst.com/chemcalc/chemcalc.html
for ur calculation. they have TLF two part for u to calculate.
-
skimz salt is a little low on calcium thus when u do a water change, your calcium lvls could drop.
if not, just add a little bit more Part A.
Dosing kalk will bring both ur Ca and Kh up simultaneously.
-
It may have been eating parasites off the SPS
I dont mean to put a damper on TS thread but red sea cleaner when they reach adulthood will become obligate sps eater just for anybody's info.
anyways hope u find a buyer.

Poison poison! I was watching this video and also kena poisoned before deciding on this tank. Some inspiration for your tank, bro. Haha...
But I abit chasing the minimalist look leh. So this one a little packed. But still damn nice!

Ok thought you would have just restarted but seems like you downsized the tank as well.
For your current tank I think 1 par38 is enough but it determines on the lens degree that you're using.
2 par 38 with 90 deg lens should be more than enough.
When I came back and saw all corals gone, I emptied the tank and dumped it at the recycling bin. Only in Nov I started getting itchy again since my fowlr is on autopilot, so getting bored.
Hmm thanks for the light suggestion. My par38 is 60 degrees lens, 4 warm white, 4 cool white and 4 blue. Another full spectrum one I put one side first. Will install soon enough and see how it goes.

Bombom,
I'm so sorry to read about your appendicitis and the loss of your corals. More importantly, I hope you are completely well now.
If there's no one else at home who knows how to look after the aquarium, then this tank crash will happen inevitably when the owner is away unplanned. This is one reason that stops me to upgrade to a bigger 6 feet tank because the heart ache would be terrible.
Thanks bro. That was about 6-7 months back so now better liao.
Now also sick. Kena poison see all the sps hahaha.

Nice pico, what happened to the previous setup?
Oh anyways bro. I know u hv a nice pico/nano tank as well. Any suggestions for lighting not. Im using 2x par38 but now on one first to acclimatise corals to the light.
-
I think in my past posts in this thread I explained. Kena severe appendicitis, 1 week hospitalised. No ATO. Pump run dry, salinity shoot up. All corals up lorry. Stomach pain first, come back heart pain.
Thanks for dropping by. Its a simple setup.

Hello friends,
I need to move to AMK from Punggol my 6 ft tank with around 30 fishes in it. when I approached tank movers they move just tanks n not live stock n water they say.
Anyone knows where they move livestock for us too?
Thanks a bunch and save my tank pl :-)

Sam

ups ups and away.

Coral Reef or Aquarium Artist is your best bet.
Cheaper options will be Kwong Ling at Kelantan Lane or Atlantic Glass beside GO.

Thanks for all the reply.
Bombom, how big is your tank and what skimmer are you using?
Harlequin Mania, how will copper disrupt the refugium?
3ft tank, BM Curve 7. 10 fishes, 1 Large Emperor, 7 smaller angels and 2 chromis.
with rgds to copper and refugium, copper will most likely kill ur macroalgae and whatever good things in ur refugium. plus if u have sand, it will absorb the copper to some extent.
-
-
+1 to this.If you need an exporter for your No3, then i would choose biopallet than refugium. Reason being if there is a need to use copper into your main tank one day ( which can be highly possible esp for a fish only tank keeping angel fish or butterfly ) , the copper will disrupt the refugium system.
More importantly is an over sized skimmer to help take care of the excess bioload.
anws look at the skimmate and my filter sock after one week for my fowlr. oversized skimmer is really a must.
sorry didnt rotate the pics.

this article explains it. basically about 20% of total DOC in ur tank.
and this article could be helpful for u :
