  1. Well... the only thing i remember about hero are the sword play being more like wizardry and magic... just hated the way Maggie had to swirl as she "dies" at the hands of Jet Li. <_< Entertaining... but no depth of story line. I think the artistic emphasis was just far too great.
  2. Yah. Its possible... probably WITHOUT e-ballast. Which only means the lights will blink lots when it comes on, shortening life of the tube. Also it produces more heat and uses more energy... some 30% more. Eballast sets are about double that price cos the ballast itself costs about $25 to $38 depending on brand and other factors. If its 2ft, its probably a 36W, not a 55W...
  3. I think you should call him. This is what I got... mine is just a small fry... a. 30" X 15" X 16" with some internal dividers and stuff. 8mm glass all round = $80. b. 24" X 15" X 12" 2 Chamber Sump/Refugium with 2 drilled holes and PVC elbows (for Durso) 6mm glass all round = $80
  4. Dragonet, This guy is fast, efficient and does good work. I was recommended by Rumour so all the credit for this contact goes to him. ** Note: He speaks only mandarin/dialects and reads only simple isometric drawings. ** Downside, the glass edges are NOT machine chamffered. Just smoothened with a sharpening rock... but overall, very good sturdy tanks. Average waiting time = 2.5 days. 5. Most LFS would have Kalkwasser. Its a clear plastic bottle with white powder in it (blue label). I got mine from Petmart, but I haven't started using it yet. $12 or $16... somewhere in that range. I'll check the volume when I get home. Wei--> What's wrong with ORCA?
  6. Yup. Those two are the same... Pacific Marine. Well, that is also the only other place I've seen the Sun Coral other than New Trio Fisheries (and Marine Life's 2 feet display tank). Its beautiful eh? Bright and cheery!
  7. Well, go get your tank from those tank makers at Industrial parks. Much cheaper. Got my 2.5 feet at 8mm all round (with a 6mm internal "pump chamber" which i designed to keep sand out of the pump - cos my sump is higher than my main tank...) + sump/refugium 6mm all round all for $160! No cabinet lah of course. IMO, external overflow is the way to go! Rumour's contact. Good tank job... express service without having to rush him! He calls me like in 2 days for collection!
  8. Damned!! How come I didn't see this thread when I logged in this morning at about 10?
  9. Nature selling them in eballast versions as well. i got a set of 2ft for my FW some time back and recently a 2.5 ft for my new SW tank. Both were selling $100 (E ballast with 2 X 6500K PL tubes). If you need to change to 10000K or blue/pink/green actnic, must add $10
  10. Just out of curiosity... are ribbon eels compatible with other fish?? Like a wrasse or anthias if they are much bigger than its mouth? Are they even reef safe?
  11. I'm not sure if she was right... but when I was at Sealife last week... I think I remember the girl telling me this is a Soha Tang? Is there such a species? I didn't investigate cos my tank is not big enough for a tang.
  12. As far as I know.... marine/reef tank keepers use 10000K. Which is also the kelvin rating for MH bulbs for reef tanks. I don't really know why... 6500K is more for planted FW tanks. Something to do with the light spectrum...
  13. Hong Leong's stuff are usually quite reasonably priced. The stock they have now is a bit highly priced (like $12 for a cleaner shrimp, $18 for a fire shrimp). hats cos the stock are all direct from Sri Lanka. Apparently the Sri Lankan stocks are better (colour and health )... I was there on Fri when their stocks came in... and again today. But when I was there today, more than 2 thirds of the stock were already sold! It shows how much the regulars of Marine Life appreciate the stock... must say something about it right? I was convinced. I invested in a pair of cleaner shrimps cos the previous one I had died during my tank transfer and a cool blue eyed anthias! Its a beauty!
  14. Well I haven't seen 18W tubes that is 10000K, but 36W 10000K tubes are very common especially at LFS that carry marine equipment and stock. Nature Aquarium has them and I saw them at Marine Life (Hong Leong) when I was there today as well.
  15. PLC? Programmable Logic Controller? You must mean PL lights right? Well, PL lights are definately suitable for Reef setups. But 6500K is not enough. You'll actually need to get those that are 10000K. Ther are whiter and look better too! Not sure about the 18W equivalent to 72W lightings part.
  16. This is such a clever idea! I have one of these small plastic tanks but i never thought of doing this before! you learn something new from SRC everyday!

  18. Hmmm... you had better call before you go as well. Sun before last they told me Tuesday. Wed I went and they told me Friday. Friday I went, they called their warehouse who told them no stock. I was looking for #1 then...
  19. LCK that fat, almost bald guy? Yahyah!!! He's loud and rude and very insulting when you ask questions! The skinny old man and the young guy are total opposites. Very nice and patient. I actually stayed there for a good 45 mins chatting with the young guy... and the skinny old man joins in from time to time... Sam's kid? The "######" girl? She's friendly... she so funny... she laughs and tells the other uncle she's so embarassed when I asked a question she could not answer... Actually, thinking about it, Rainbow has some things that are ok priced. Their test kits are quite ok.
  20. Hey AT, are those Coco Worms you have on pg 13?? Where did you get them and how much? They are beauties!
  21. Ok... after a whole day of work... I got the whole thing up and running at last! Hooray to 0-plumbing problems! Thanks to that Orange Can of Japanese PVC glue. Yo Yazid, you mentioned its easy to detach after gluing? Wah, I tug, and twisted and pulled and huffed and puffed... but I couldn't get it apart. So what do I need to do next to make sure that sediment dwelling amphipods and copepods will start occupying their new home?
  22. Well, other than Hong Leong, I've never been to an LFS that gives good service and advice. <_< I just blacklisted SeaLife yesterday due to their crappy story about how their coral sand is more expensive cos its cleaner. But I must admit, their livestock is quite good.
