  1. Yes, Evistias acutirostris are stunning fish. It's kept at the Waikiki Aquarium. Starved until someone got the idea to feed it brittlestars. Not sure if they ever managed to change this but they now have the species in their 4000 gallon Northwestern Hawaii exhibit together with masked anglefish and much more.
  2. just for the record, that name is invalid (it's preoccupied by Scopularia rubra de Buen 1959, itself a junior synonym of Hypoplectrodes semicinctum (Valenciennes 1833)). The correct name for the West Australian "Ellerkeldia rubra" is Hypoplectrodes cardinalis, but it looks great no matter what name is used! Though found as far north as Shark Bay, it is essentially a subtropical species
  3. Great looking fish and yes, native to quite deep, cold water. The correct name is Parapercis aurantiaca, but the misspelled version lacking the "a" is often seen.
  4. Epinephelus morrhua and E. radiatus are often confused and are part of the same species complex = close relatives, but not synonymous. This species complex also includes two additional species, E. poecilonotus and E. tuamotuensis. All are quite similar Indo-Pacific groupers from fairly deep water. I'm no specialist on this group, but the series of photos with the Lubricogobius certainly look like juvenile E. radiatus to me. In comparison, these are juvenile E. morrhua: http://fishpix.kahak...tail?START=7913 http://www.izuzuki.c...ge/hokiHTyg.jpg
