  1. Are they also called red ruby dragonet? If yes, I saw quite a few at 6pm just now.
  2. Updates... Added some dead rocks to the refugium. Hopefully, it will come to live and house some copepods. Also noticed that the tip of the SPS will be exposed during water change. Concluded that the return pump compartment volume is lesser then water change volume so I need to off the return pump resulting in display tank water level going down. Advise for all: design a return pump compartment that can hold more water then what you want to change so your return pump can keep running during water change.
  3. Let me start... $25. Btw, where to collect?
  4. Ha ha... Yup... Not so slow after all... Initially, I intended to add them in 1week interval... Probably the next batch of live stock will be > 1 week later... You are right to doubt that there may not be sufficient food for a 1 month old tank... I had tried to improve the tank by using water from a mature tank during the first 4 weeks of water change(weekly). I had also added some Algagen Tisbe pods to seed the tank. Hopefully, the Vega could provide sufficient "food" for the clams. Do you think I should target feed Algagen smoothie (Oyster delight) to the clams?
  5. Thank you... One more shot... Zoanthids...
  6. Really like clams... Unfortunately, could not find maximas... only croceas. From Aquamarin (Indonesia) From Iwarna (Vietnam)
  7. I second that... MH & T5 combo... IMO best for SPS... I am trying LEDs, yet to come to any conclusion.
  8. More live stocks... Clean up crews & filter feeders... 1 x Astrea/Trochus (don't know how to tell the difference) 1 x Nassarius (was told it is a turbo/turban) 1 x crocea (~4 inch) Calcium only 390... Buffering up... Blue tang seems to be bloated as it indulge on the algae... Moved the frag of SPS to the top... FTS
  9. Thanks for the update as I can now make my way down(don't waste the trip).
  10. Updates for week 6... Checked the ALK before water change and was shocked to find out it was only 5.7dKH. (No wonder the zoas did not open fully) After water change it was increased to 7.0dKH. Now I am buffering it to 8.0 - 9.0dKH. Salinity 1.025
  11. Well, I have done to the best of my ability to go through proper cycling. Hopefully, I would have reduced the suffering to the minimum or none. Happy to update that so far the live stock seems to be fine. Clowns, Tang & wrasse eating well. SPS with full polyp extension(PE). Clam has attached to the rock. GSP seems to be multiplying (was told it may become a nuisance). Most of the zoanthids are okay except 2 frags that did not open fully. Stocking slowly...
  12. Decided to bite the bullet and try a frag of SPS... Fingers crossed...
  13. New live stock... 2 x clownfish 1 x blue tang 1 x 6 line wrasse 1 x crocea Some macro algae (caulerpa)
  14. Only check the salinity is 1.025. Week 5 - still no coralline algae on the dead rocks yet. The zoas are not doing well(not opening up). GSP is most hardy (so far). Tempted to add a frag of SPS...
  15. Got it... Thank you for sharing. I will try that out...
  16. After 4 weeks of cycling, I have no confidence that the tank can start to stock. Cheato shrinking Zoanthids not looking well Lots of nuisance algae No coralline on dead rocks(not alive yet)
  17. Woah... the colour is amazing... I am also using vega but I have no idea how to configure it... What is lunar cycle? What is weather effects? What is sunrise & sunset? Why must set the duration? What is the region(Fiji, Hawaii...etc)? CHIM! At night still have blue light! Not sure if the corals will "overwork"... ha ha... Can share your configurations?
  18. IMO, Thomson is quite central... Been to a few north reefers place to admire their tanks. I believe east and west has more reefers. Not know of any south reefers... Maybe we should organise a trip to the sister's island or kusu island or st johns island... May have corals there...
  19. Thanks, unfortunately, the tank is not big enough... Thanks, switched to LEDs. Nothing much really. Only 3rd week of cycling. Added some frags of Zoas from the pico that I just decommed.
  20. 21. After 5 months, I have decommissioned this setup and transferred the live rocks and zoanthids to another tank. The pico tank can work but the effort to maintain is much more than a properly setup bigger tank. As I start to get lazy, water parameter testing, dosing and buffering gets tedious. Growth was SSSLLLOOOWWW... The conclusion I derive is that if the effort for maintaining 8 litres is the same as maintaining 80 litres... then it would be a no brainer answer to go for 80 litres since you can have more live stock. With more live stock the pleasure and satisfaction is much more (at least for me). Thank you for reading.
