The light set is hung quite high above the water line. Water splashes from my small fishes will not be able to touch the glass. I have already replaced the glass. Make sure it is tempered glass. Brand of bulb is iwasaki. When I bought them, it was mentioned to be UV cut. Maybe it is not 100% shielded, but at least a certain percentage.

Do not think the glass is UV shielded. Seems more like normal tempered glass. Is there a possibility that the glass cracked because of the heat generated by the 150W DE bulbs? Now my tank bottom is glittering with all the unremoved glass.

Dear all, Anyone experienced the glass covering the MH set shattering? Mine just exploded and shattered into a thousand pieces. Most fell into the tank which I spent the whole night picking up the broken shards. Still got so many that I gave up and decided to leave them there. Is it the heat from the bulbs? Maybe China-made glass isnt very heat proof. Any suggestions where I can find a glass shop to replace it? Thanks.

I agree with this statement. MH lamps usually have a number of ballasts recommended by the manufacturer in order to operate at optimum performance. Wrong ballast might cause your lamps to give another Kelvin that is different from manufacturer's specifications.

E27 base is for single end lamps.
