  1. Another piece from KennethK Bro

Brown when purchase with green poly

Now after 1 mth in my tank

Purple tip . Can compare surrounding .

it would be interesting if you could keep it up for another 6-10 months (you might got something there)....success has to be qualified by time and when i see color change without growth...i get worried (notice in RC, most color sequence ARE accopanied by growth sequence and is normally conducted over a period of months not weeks)...

What happened to your other surrounding corals anyway....2 pieces isn't enough to prove anything yet hor....

  2. bro, why don't you just keep the sps for sometime then, since you are sure about SPS being able to be kept in high NO3????

Main part of our maintainence is in ensure that the water remains clean and as low a No3 level as possible....if you were sure of your original assertation, then doesn't it sound logicial that even when you have not enough time, it is still possible to keep SPS??? given that high NO3 does not make a difference????

But seriously (i might be wrong). some of the pictures you posted in july shows signification STN and TN at the base and tips....given that those pieces were not there in the June posting, i would assume that they were in your tank Max - 1 month???? isn't already a good enough indication that something is not right in the first place?

Finally, i know of people who had SPS turned green went it is in the dying phase (yeah la...me la)...so mind showing us how green is your green??? You seriously still sure that you can keep SPS under this type of condition for at least 1 year (to be consider at least as a little successful)??? It would certainly be interesting if you could pull it off, so that you can challange some of the commonly acknowledge information.....:) :)

  3. pics in my tank thread can show you, all the while my nitrate never below 50ppm even with chaeto.. now currently keeping a reef with big Angels, tangs and many fishes plus certain LPS plus anemone.. i downgraded from mostly sps as too busy, still have 1, 2 pieces la..

errrr.....you dam funny leh, claim that SPS can keep in high NO3 condition then now say only 1 or 2 piece in your tank before no time to keep....

  4. actually im a detractor of the whole nitrate is harmful theory, some reefers including myself keep SPS with nitrates as high as 50ppm, i read somewhere that actually the nitrate is not the harmful ion to the coral but when your nitrate is high, usually a whole host of other problems come into play, any bros willing to support my statement? haha, one thing i do to keep my SPS alive is the never fail water change :) but of course 0ppm is still best la..

    :bow::bow::bow:

you the master...i have never succeed in keeping SPS when nitrate was at even 20ppm.....at best brown montis and digi, but only manage 5-6 months before theykonk....

maybe you like to share with us your methods and equipment or a few full tank shot and growth shot....it be great if we can cut back on all those equipment needed to keep no3 low....:D :D :D

  5. my heat exchanger also sit at the the top of tank, more then 2 meter from the sump....what I did instead is use a aquabee 2000 pump and pump it direct from the overflow box to chiller and back to main tank (mine running dorsa pipe, so got some space)...use less electricity and have less heat load...

when i change water the tank would still be cool as it forms a close loop between the main tank and the overflow box....;)

  6. Once again my company is looking for helpers for the next phase of our project. The job scope is to surf and view a website and then cut and paste the content into another webpage....

The working hour at from monday-friday and starts from 10 am to 6pm. Wages are paid at month's end and calculated on daily basis....PM me your name, contact number for more details.

    Thanks

  7. Artica is not 200watt.....i know because i use to owe one of those....in terms of power saving, its not that it has a much smaller power consumption, but rather a more effect design that would allow it to cool faster and more effective then resun (which i had also before)...i don't know the techincial part, but it actually cool down my tank faster then a resun.....

Frankly for me, i notice only about a 10-20% saving when i switch to artica...but the reason for me switching is because of relablitiy and the abilitiy to put down my tank temperature in really really hot weather.

I have now (recently) switch to those external air con rotatory compressor type. immediate benefits are:

    - that as the compressor is piped outside the house, the whole room is about 1-2 degree cooler.

    - Compare to the artical, its noiseless (if you think Arctica or teco is quite, you having seen nothing yet!)

    - It definately half the time of cool when compared to my old chiller

    - according to the aircon man, my compressor while 1 HP consume the same amp as the artica 1/3 compressor!

so seriously, if you are going to come out the $$$ to get an artica, you might want to consider customized air-con unit instead as they cost about the same....some air con man even have lobang to get you used air-con compressor with their own local warranty....;)

  8. how does the flow meter work??? does it place some sort of barrier in between the path of the water flow?

you might want to keep a look out of if the mum's from the zeovit would be able to flow out into the tank.....

finally, can let me know where you get the flow meter???

  9. there might not be enough foodstuff for your hermits or you simlpy have too much hermits.....

hermits in the wild hides all the time and only come out at night to feed...its part of their natural instinct....they only comes out in the day if they are REALLY hungry..maybe you should talk out some of the hermits to reduce the population or inrease feeding....:D

  10. calling all students on hoildays, boys awaiting for enlistment, in between job people.....

my company is recently involve in a project...we help helper to provide extra hands in migrating a website from one place to system....what the job involve is:

    - Navigate to the webpage

    - copy the content of the page to the new system

    - adjust for broken links as the page are moved.

Nothing much to it....as long as you can surf the web, you should be able to do it....job should start around July and ends around that period.....

PM for details if you are interested....

    Thanks

  11. Hi guys,

I am looking for at least 2 N.day tickets (any day also can)....willing to trade my extra beckeet skimmer for it...its a customized RM 24" tall, 6" body skimmer for insump used. Does not come with a pump, but been using a Rio20 to drive it....

    Thanks

  12. for ligthin it really depends on what you would be keeping....personally i think the good brand T5 would be good enough even for SPS....the ATI power module is a good one..providing very very bright lights as compared to others in the market, lights is one thing i learn where brand makes a different - don't beleive it when people start claiming that they use the same german ballast as ATI - the way i see it, no T5 currently match the Power module in intensity....

For skimmer, i like the raw power of Beckket. Those good brand needlewheel are also good, but my personal preference is still beckket because of the throughrate. Its also cheaper then the good brand needlewheel (forget the china made ones).

For chiller, go for those air-con compressor type and have them pipe the unit outdoors (the heater exhcanger can stay near the tanks so you don't have to run the water a long distant)....they are essentially noiseless and when piped outside transmit 0 heat to the room....but very important is to get an air-con man you can trust. Expereince counts.

  13. Really? I heard the law's getting tougher on cheats... even in small claims they are looking after the victims better.

I'm actually also deciding to pursue a long delayed legal case or a public shaming with some evidence and let everyone decide for themselves. Too many sneaky and cheating people nowadays... too hungry for a little $$ or power?? I have been victimized myself... am i too nice to be so easily eaten?

I guess everyone's gonna be a bit smarter now. :(

even in small claims you have to pay some $$$ in adminstration fees and also taxi for the officer serving the claims....there are limits to what small claims can do...and things get trickly if they challenge you....

you can pursue a long delayed case....but what i am saying is that be prepare to spend, and even more if that guy decide to fight back....then it would be even more $$$ down the drain, even if you win - but if it is just that 'qi' you are after then its up to you...;)....this is not america....you can't get rich from sueing people.....:(

the police have very strict rules on how they classify cheats...you be surprise if some of the some call cheating cases here would not fall under the power of the police.....so most likely it falls under commerical disputes or some other civil case....

so be smart....do you own research and asked around before even talking to some people...

  14. AT, the funny thing about the law here is that the court would probably access damages based on cost as a result of the slander...given that most of us are not public figure and, also you can hardly justify lost of potential sale...its unlikely to amount to much....

Even if you win a civil suit and the court award cost to you...you still end up having to pay some $$$ for those administration fee etc...something to the tune of at least $750 for small cases...

so seriously, a lot of the so call 'cheater' alway changelle people to sue them, but in reality i would not bet on it happening - the irony of it is that these same 'cheater' used it as a basis of justifying that their actions are right in the first place....
