  1. maybe you should try adding in a few pcs of live rocks? its strange that algae is not growing in ur tank especially after 5months
  2. by the way my tank is quite small. 35cmx35cmx35cm. the crab is around 1inch
  3. Recently I realised that my ricordea garden kept getting pushed out of position. One night around 2am, i turned on a nearby lamp and found a hitchhiker crab which quickly retreated into the rock work. It looked like a gorilla crab. It moved very quickly so i couldn't get it in time. Any idea how to catch it without destroying my rock work? So far it hasn't done any damage to any of my inverts and corals.
  4. Is it necessary to dose my 35cmx35cmx35cm nano tank? I don't have any SPS but i have a colony of duncans and i heard they can grow rapidly with some trace elements. Im afraid of an algae bloom after i dose. Should i just dose 1ml of Essential Elements by Kent Marine?
  5. my cleaner shrimps spawn very often. never tried raising any of them as i heard that they are very hard to breed. i just let my fish and corals have a good meal as they are high in nutrition
  6. i place mine in mid/high flow area. 4 more new polyps growing!
  7. UPDATE! My dad gave me a hammer coral and a duncan coral from his 100g tank
  8. my mandarin kept itself alive on pods for over a month already. never saw it eating mysis or pellet before.
  9. Nice cardinals. Where did you buy them from?
  10. I have a coral banded shrimp which i bought since 17 june in my previous tank and i transferred it over to my new tank on 17 october. It is super aggressive and whenever I put my hand in the tank, it will come out and attack my hand. It will be hiding at his usual cave near the back of the tank but when i put my hand in the front of the tank he will come out and attack it. Sometimes i try to scare it away using my hand but he keeps coming back to attack it after retreating back into his cave. My father has a much bigger coral banded shrimp in his tank but it is not that aggressive and minds its own business. Is this normal?
  11. 14! ^^ my father is also a reefer he is 64 ( old i know haha )
  12. thanks for the help guys! i realised that i was actually overfeeding my inverts! instead of pouring the food into the water, i now hand feed each invert individually!
  13. The water i use for top up is tap water treated with pro ammonia detox from kent marine. Since i live in central area, i get my saltwater from sea life aquarium (sam and jasmine). They also use pro ammonia detox to treat their tap water and mix their saltwater but somehow their tanks dont have cyano...
  14. My tank is nearly 2 months. Henry from marine life told me that UV would not be useful unless the cyanobacteria actually went into the UV steriliser
  15. no idea why pics are slanted... taken from samsung s4.
  16. I have a 11G reef tank with cyanobacteria. I grows like mad and I use a turkey baster to blast them away and they get sucked into my HOB filter. I have no fish now only 1 pom pom crab 1 scarlett cleaner shrimp and 1 coral banded shrimp so i feed them once every 2 to 3 days. I have a few corals which I feed once a week. I do not have nitrate or phosphate test kit but my ammonia reading is currently at 0.05. I top off my water with tap water but I treat them with pro ammonia detox by kent marine first. Wondering if UV steriliser or introducing chaeto to my tank will get rid of it...
  17. Maroon clowns are known to attack and even kill other clownfish and shouldn't be housed with other species of clownfish.
  18. CherryAqua iNano is a good light. I use for my 35x35x35. 30 adjustable levels of white and blue light. Also has sunrise and sunset effect to turn on and off the light over time. Chiller is not necessary for such a small tank. I can keep my tank temperature at arnd 25-26 with just a fan.
  19. 28-30 is not a good temperature for corals. Try to keep it between 25-26 throughout the entire day.
  20. Thanks! The light I'm using is CherryAqua iNano. How big is your maroon clown?
