1.025 is ok. Technically with the gonio your tank will be class as reef tank. My experience was the bald patch just couldnt recover despite a few coral chemical dips. I saw some worms feeding on it. The tentacles never got extended. If you google online, you will learn that this coral is quite difficult. Search for goniopora coral.

Fowlr tank sounds like a bad idea because of salinity and not reef safe fishes. I place them on sand bed. The bald patches. My experience is it slowly spreads and went bald. They are not the easiest coral to keep. But that is my newbie experience.

Am stocks them often. But they arent good algae eater, lazy. Ends up camping for pellets everyday. Quite aggressive in my case as well. I own 3 algae blenny previously. 1 jumped. 1 asked for it. Kept kissing my naso tang that is much bigger. She returned him a kiss of death. 1 got stuck in a pump (jumped) Get sea urchins or sea hare for better algae job.

The frequent water change and heavy electricity water bill is something u must prepare for first and foremost. My personal advice is to start with a nano tank first. There will be mistakes, there will be diseases and there will be deaths. When it comes to restocking, maintenance and upkeep a nano tank is cheaper. Of course the parameters of a nano tank is not easy to maintain. This is something to take note of. Start small and try first. If you dont like it, you can remove easily. Imagine a big tank, u r sicked of constant water changes, mounting bills, multiple crashes. Last thing you want is think about how much to spend to remove this headache or go on bleeding more. Sounds negative but thats just my experience.

Some light research shows it could be brown microalgae.

Lol no mah there are algae bloom and the algae are kinda free moving too. I do have white sponge like material in my wave maker though but not like yours.

Could be algae stuffs? I see my angelfishes and foxface nipping the rocks occassionally for those stuffs.

U can also use rubberband to make the food dispense hole smaller too. 10 days is abit too long imo. 1 week still ok

Use the pet bottle trap trick to trap them.

Few fishes and inverts can help u greatly. Since fowlr. Highly recommend foxface for hair algae. Peaceful yet hardy fish. However if we are looking at turf algae, sea hare is the way to go. But u need 1.025 salinity to be safe. Get the california black sea hare from Henry. They dont release toxic. Tuxedo urchin is also great at striping algae. So great it stripes any lr to become pure white. So if u intend to keep coraline algae, then not good choice. The above 3 are the best algae fighters. Tangs, algae blenny, snails, sea lettuce and what not are lazy in my experience lol

Im also using tap water for my 4ft fowlr and lps nano tank. Fowlr tank lr comes with coraline and is still maintained since nov 2014 with 6hrs of sub-par light daily. No diatom, hair algae, slime etc. 20% wc biweekly, cheato in sump, suboptimal ATS (not much algae), wet skiming and 1 cap of mb7 biweekly. Nano tank not much obvious algae growth on par38 6hrs light. No coraline algae. Established over 1 yr on tap water. I did not bother letting water sit over night or declorine, etc. Everything straight in.. Yes, there are people waiting to see my tank go booms. Lol. But are we to enjoy the fishes swim or to become their slave? - my tank maker asks me when I started.

Most crab are bad. Comes plenty with lr.

Hi guys, my bubble coral often found to be wide open as shown in attached image. Why is that so? Quite puzzled. Been with me for almost a year already. The bubble corals ive seen at lfs are always... bubble while mine is like mushroom often. Any idea?
