  1. Tangs only eat macroalgae... Not the stuff on the glass. You need urchins and snails for that. Alternatively the Kole tang is the only one that eats micro algae I think. Can any expert confirm? Sent from my C6603 using Tapatalk
  2. To my experience, yes. They love to eat anything... They have crazy appetites. Sent from my C6603 using Tapatalk
  3. Thanks for the info bro. I checked it out abd I don't think its a bobbit worm, it's not as fast and doesn't attack anything. At the moment it dosent seem to do much other than crawl around veeeery slowly. There's at least 10 of them all over a small tennis ball sized bunch of macroalgae Sent from my C6603 using Tapatalk
  4. Hi bro, new trio sells live pods but not always available, you'll have to call and check. I think LCK201 also has too but I'm not sure Sent from my C6603 using Tapatalk
  5. Hi guys, saw these things suddenly swarming my red macroalgae. They move like caterpillars but have some sort of armor on their bodies, looks like it's made of small sand bits. They don't move in the day, only active at night. Anyone know what they are? Thanks Sent from my C6603 using Tapatalk
  6. Day shot of the gonio. Finally looks like a flower! Sent from my C6603 using Tapatalk
  7. Update: Torch coral started receding into the skeleton a few days ago, which is bad news. Then suddenly, i spotted this small white pearly smooth thing. Is this some kind of parasite? It looks like a smooth white pebble. Thanks guys, am gonna attempt to rip it off. Its stuck on quite hard.
  8. Another small update. The almost dead gonio seems to be showing signs of growth. The polyps are getting slightly longer. Fingers crossed Sent from my C6603 using Tapatalk
  9. Looking at the situation I suggest that you just remove the white parts first and continue monitoring the situation Sent from my C6603 using Tapatalk
  10. I had the same problem with chaeto, it turn white and died. I think my problem was having the light on 24/7. After switching a night cycle (my fuge light turns on only after my main tank light turn off) and replaced my chaeto for caulerpa instead, it seems to have solved the problem. I also make sure to dose iron and trace elements to replace lost nutrients. What are your water parameters and light type and schedule? Sent from my C6603 using Tapatalk
  11. Sorry to hear about your loss. I just accidentally killed my damsel today. Although it may seem like a cheap, unwanted fish but every life is precious. Sent from my C6603 using Tapatalk
  12. From my experience, I didn't purposely go out to cultivate it. I just bought some chaeto and housed it in an external breeder box. After a few days I started to see one or two amphipods. After one month, it exploded into a swarm of pods, maybe almost 100 Sent from my C6603 using Tapatalk
  13. Thanks for the advice, bro KS! I better start dosing more. Think my home system might be too new and too clean since I feed sparingly. Nitrate is a bit low too Sent from my C6603 using Tapatalk
  14. So I got some red grape macroalgae from a generous bro a few days ago. This morning I woke up and saw this... The "grapes" have turned green and are falling off... Is this what they mean by the macro going "sexual"? Sent from my C6603 using Tapatalk
  15. Something random... Did a time lapse of sun coral feeding because it didn't seem like they were doing anything. 30 mins compressed into 6 seconds, suddenly i see them slurping it up like eating spaghetti lol
  16. I tried to put pods into my display before... My damsel was very happy... Ate them all up even though it was night. Very alert fish lol Sent from my C6603 using Tapatalk
  17. Actually can lah... But chaeto traps a lot of dirt, so many reefers find it ugly to put in the main display. Your pods will love it since they eat algae and detritus. If your live rock is very porous then lagi best, the pods can hide inside and not become fish snacks Sent from my C6603 using Tapatalk
  18. Hmm, I filtered a lot.of it out with a filter pump already but still some left. Left it running overnight and the smell is mostly gone now. I'll try putting my mantis in soon as he looks super grumpy now... Sent from my C6603 using Tapatalk
  19. Hi all, just encountered something new as a beginner hobbyist. I had a pail for live sand from a bro and had extra so I left it in a pail with water and an air stone to provide some flow and left it for a few weeks. Then just yesterday I was going to set up a new 10g tank so I decided to scoop up the extra sand. Big mistake!! The sand was super freaking smelly and a lot of black sediment came up. Still, I had no choice but set up the tank anyway but I poured away as much of the black sediment as possible and filled the tank with new water. I can still smell it, but much less. Two things: 1. I asume this is caused by anaerobic bacteria due to the deep sandbed I created in the pail. The smell is probably hydrogen sulphide. Is this correct? 2. Is it safe to just use this sand since I removed most of the black water? I have live rock on standby. The tank is meant for a peacock mantis. Currently my peacock mantis is still in a pail with an air stone and live rock so he should still be able to tahan a few days while I try to figure out a solution. Appreciate the help people! Thanks! 20. All taken! Thank you everyone. Moderator, please close the thread. Thanks sgreefclub
  21. Throw it into your sump. Rented apartment lol and he can pay rent by cleaning up Sent from my C6603 using Tapatalk
  22. Hi people, just spotted this on my snail. Is it the dreaded brown Aesterina star that eats corals? Thanks Sent from my C6603 using Tapatalk
  23. If your skimmer produces so much skimmate, it's pretty much wet skimming. Your liquid should be tea or greenish colored. That's really effective to remove particles but also removes too much water. Try to go for a very dry foam by raising the skimmer or more bubbles. Mine fills up every 4-5 days Sent from my C6603 using Tapatalk
  24. Did you check the behavior of your livestock at night with lights off? Cos sometimes some species totally change behavior in the dark. Sent from my C6603 using Tapatalk
  25. Is it a tall tank or long tank? I usually don't put more than one fish in a nano because of less swimming space. My 3" damsel is in a tall nano by himself. But if you have smaller species, maybe 3-5. If you're keeping shrimp, they don't need so much swimming space but lots of places to hide in, or else they will fight, so maybe can squeeze more. In my 20g I have 6 shrimp, all have their own hangout places Sent from my C6603 using Tapatalk
