  1. Have 2 sets to DIY overflow piping for sale. 1. 20mm piping (able to handle 2500-3000L) - $20 1. 25mm piping (able to handle 3000-3500L) - $25 pictures will be up later. pm me if interested. collection in the west. thks
  2. dun think this will happen. if you look carefully at his other picture, there is another pipe inside the surface and base skimmer (i think might be sealed at the bottom). however dun think the suction will be effective for the bottom filter..
  3. the external pipe should be slightly longer than the pipe in the overflow. the problem with your design should be the position of your control valve. it is place too near to U portion of the overflow, thus there is lack of water suction to draw the water down to the overflow. try placing the control valve further down the pipe (just reverse the control valve and its linking length of piping the other way round). it should be able to work. also after ###### the water at the external piping, replace the end-cap immediately. for the initial starting of the overflow, make the skimmer holes further down into the water, i think a 2 cm might be quite insufficent. adjust the skimmer to desired position only a full siphon is establish, and remember to remove or replace the end cap with an air hole to enable auto-restart of the overflow. else you will be tasting salt water again..
  4. hi, wanna where can buy plastic bolts (ard 1 inch) and nuts. thks
  5. dun think that will be a problem. I had painted the whole room (including the ceiling) and stand for the tank, no problem with the LS after 6 mths. Just make sure no paint get into the water.
  6. tried feeding some other meaty food like brine shrimps instead, as mysis shrimps might be too large for their relatively small mouths. always important to buy a feeding and relatively larger sized specimen. got mine for ard 8mths now feeding pellets, mysis, nori and parasites.
  7. oopss double post anyway, the sea cukes just eject all their intestines out. but they are really hardworking, but dun worth taking the risk.
  8. sea cuke always had bad exprience with them strombus they eat algae instead i think brittle stars they do help but they eat only they leftover food so not really useful. Sand dollars are good. I see a marked improvement on my sand bed. recommended to get 1 sand dollar per ft of tank size. they do sometimes do the vanishing act into the sand bed, and appear few days later. but so long they leave 'road marks' on your sand bed means they are still alive and kicking.

  10. A picture (from Marinedepotlive.com) of how a cleaner wrasse look like:
  11. altough the cleaner wrasse do help to remove the parasite from the fishes, it is not advisble to add in the wrasse into your tank as a ich remedy when there is already an ich outbreak. The wrasse might also be infected. However the cleaner wrasse is a nice to have fish, but you got to choose a good feeding specimen. I got one and with me for more than 4mths, feeding on mysis and also the parasitie/ or dead skin from the fish.
  12. hi, interested in the following: carpenter's fairy $3 diamond watchman goby $2 yellow watchman goby $2 able to collect during the day time in TB. please pm if still avail.thks
  13. try to feed the clown fish with brine shrimps... I think they are more readily to take in meaty stuffs. but dun feed with only brine shrimps as it does not have much nutritional value.
  14. hi bro, interested in all your LS. still avail? pm me thks
  15. i am afraid this overflow will not work for a bottom placed tank, as it uses gravity to move the water
  16. i had encountered the problem of not able to auto start, but previous threads of posts, users had solved the solution by leaving the end open (the part whereby you suck in the air from the pipe) after the overflow has been running.
  17. yes.. all the piping are bought from those hardware shops.. no pumps/ venturi things needed.. just the initial ###### of the air from the pipe to kick start it. this design is very good as should the return pump be cut off the overflow will also stop. the flow will continue automatically once the return pump is back running. too bad i am still looking for a new tank, else will sell you my overflow pipe.
  18. looking for a cabinet tank set (minimum 10mm) including hood, sump and pipings. thks.
  19. attached is the design of the overflow pipe (picture taken from a post by rockfish). I had done one myself and it is very easy to DIY. estimated cost to be ard $30.
