  1. Yes. I use a media rack to hold the chaeto and wrap the rack in a fine mesh net bag. This helps limit bits from getting into return pump chamber but doesn’t completely eliminate it. My filter floss seems to get dirty pretty quickly and so I replace it every 2 days. I’m thinking about using material with much smaller holes such as a laundry bag but not such how much that would decrease the amount of light getting to the chaeto. I guess this is a problem with all refugiums regardless of where they are located. I’m interested to hear how other refugium users deal with this. Sent from Singapore Reef Club mobile app
  2. I’m running the same type of refugium on my IM Fusion 20. I purchased an electrical plug with a digital On/Off timer. The refugium light turns on about an hour before the display lights turn off and turns off an hour after the display lights turn on. Using the principles of Reverse Daylight Photosynthesis is purported to help stabilize pH during nighttime when CO2 accumulates. This is the theory anyway. I haven’t gotten up in the middle of the night to test pH nor do I think hobbyist test kits are sensitive enough to detect minor fluctuations in pH, but my Chaeto is growing like crazy and my nitrates and phosphates are barely detectable. It’s a fairly cheap modification and may be worth trying. Sent from Singapore Reef Club mobile app
  3. Link below is for BRStv video explaining the relationship between alkalinity, calcium and magnesium in reef tanks. Video covers the chemistry in an easy to understand explanation. Enjoy. If the link doesn’t work, search for “brstv week 29” on YouTube. Sent from Singapore Reef Club mobile app
  4. Zoa rock just doesn’t fit with my new scape. Letting go for $50. Will also trade for LPS or mushrooms. Please PM if interested. Sent from Singapore Reef Club mobile app
  5. Nice BTAs, quite a range of colors. Sand substrate is a nice addition also, very natural looking. [emoji3] Sent from Singapore Reef Club mobile app

  7. Can anyone ID this critter? Is it harmful to corals? Thanks Sent from Singapore Reef Club mobile app
  8. Thanks for the suggestions, I’ll try clams and mussels right away. Hopefully I can get them through quarantine and into my display tank. I have a pipefish and mandarin that readily eat frozen brine and mysis. Maybe they can teach the copperbands how it’s done. [emoji846] Sent from Singapore Reef Club mobile app
  9. Thanks. Already tried Reef Nutrition Tigger Pods and NYOS Gold Pods with no success but will keep offering it to them. Sent from Singapore Reef Club mobile app
  10. I haven’t had much success keeping copperband butterflies, but I’m giving it another try because they are one of my favorite fish. I currently have 2 small ones in quarantine for 4 days now, but neither seems at all interested in food. Water parameters all test ok and the fish are swimming normally with normal respiration. I’ve tried lots of different foods: frozen brine and mysis (soaked in garlic), a couple of different kinds of pellets, masstick, tigger Pods, NYOS Gold Pods. Any suggestions on foods or supplements to get them feeding? Thanks Sent from Singapore Reef Club mobile app

  13. WTS: 250mL bottle of NYOS Gold Pods. Bought last week at LFS. Tried it out once but my fish seem to prefer other foods. Expiration Date on bottle is 11/2019. Retail price is about $30. Selling for $20 to recover part of my expense. Nice discount off retail price if your fish eat these. PM me if interested. Sent from Singapore Reef Club mobile app
