  6. Hi Bros, I am giving away the following livestocks: Sea urchin x 2 http://www.cepolina..../sea_urchin.jpg These 2 sea urchins have been with me for at least 2 years. Took me very long to decide to give them away *** sad *** because I am decommissioning my marine aquarium soon. Personal reason - no time to take care. So preferably, can pass them to experienced aquarist who can really take care of them *** promise me that they will be alive and well please *** Yellow-tailed damsels x 4 Been with me for 6 months. Self collect at Sengkang over coming weekend. Please leave me a message here. Priority given to whom can take both the urchins and damsels. Thank you.
  7. Thanks bro. A really really strange thing happened this morning. After I woke up and went to check my tank - all the green algae turned back to green again! This is really puzzling because I never know that algae will turn color at night and turn green again in the morning. I swear! They were white last night 2am when I saw them
  8. Oh, not sure if this is relevant but the algae remain green the entire daytime when my light is on. I turned off the light at around 9pm plus and at 2am I happened to go and take a look and got a shock that they all turned white.
  9. Hi Bro, Need some urgent advice here! I have been experiencing problem with Cyanobacteria (red slime algae) in my tank for months. I believe it may be due to my mother feeding too much when I am out of house - so maybe too much nutrient in the water. Today I went to purchase a few rocks of green algae - thinking that they can asborb the nutrient so as to kill off the Cyanobacteria. It has only been one night and the green algae are all turning white! Can I know the cause of it? Is it because the green algae has absorbed all the nutrient, etc? I read from some other forums that green algae can go 'sexual' which may cause it to turn white? Is it possible in my tank since they are only here for 1 day! Thanks in advance.
  10. Hi Bro, I am exploring the idea of getting a chiller for my 4ft tank (about 330L) because the current temperature is as high as 30.8C I have a couple of questions that need advice: 1) What would be a good chiller brand and model? Criteria: 330L and silent - heard Resun can be quite noisy 2) Any good LFS to purchase chiller? I am hoping to find a LFS which also providing service to setup the chiller and piping because I am extremely clumsy about piping Thanks in advance
  11. Hi bro, Any recommended LFS to purchase Resun Chiller CL-280? Can advise what is the estimated price that I should be looking at? so that I don't get cheated Thank you.
  12. Dear brothers, I have a recent worry that needs some advice. I have a 4ft marine tank and tank cabinet. It does not come with a sump so I am using the cabinet as a storage. 3 months ago, the tank leaked and I got myself a new tank and thinking of improvement, I got a sump tank as well. So the new tank and sump have been setup and the sump is inside my existing cabinet, and shortly I still to notice a few issues: 1) The noise caused by the overflow section is loud. Since my tank is at the balcony, kinda disturbed my neighbours. Did any brother have similar issues and how do you overcome that? 2)I noticed the cabinet hinges are starting to rust and there is this damp smell. I think the water in the sump, evaporation or something is causing the cabinet to smell damp. Is it common for cabinets that have sump inside? Will this be a danger that my cabinet will be corroded and give way eventually? How do I stop the hinges from rusting? 3) I also got myself a EHIM return pump based on tank maker's recommendation but I realised that it is generating more heat...the water temperature now is warmer than before...what should I do? change a pump? but really feel bad to change it since I just got it setup. I dont have a budget now for a chiller
  13. Dear brothers, Need some advice with lighting and temperature requirement for corals. 1) Firstly, currently I do not have the budget for MH light so am looking at T5 sets. Currently I only have 2 T5 tubes. With only 2 tubes, what corals can I keep? 2) If I do increase the number of T5 tubes, what coral can I keep? In general, can I know how many T5 are required for the following coral? - Mushroom = how many T5? - Polyps (eg. yellow polyps, star polyps) = how many T5? - Yumas (not sure if same as mushroom) = how many T5? - Zoo (not sure if same as polys) = how many T5? - Other soft coral (eg. leather coral)= how many T5? - LPS (eg. hammer, frogspawn) = how many T5? 3) If I am only using T5, assuming not as hot as MH lights, do I need a chiller to keep these above corals? Thank you so much!
  14. Hi, saw some threads about the ban of lionfish sale in Singapore. Is this true? But I recall I saw seeing it on sale somewhere although I cant remember where...
  15. Dear brothers, I have a Dymax 4FT MH Lightset for sale. I didnt have a photo for it but you can refer to the following site: http://www.fishnfriends.com/FishSpecies/ac...es_Lighting.htm FEATURES: The Dymax Solar HQI is made to suit the professional's needs as they are equipped with various necessary functions (e.g. a pair of aluminium light stand, a set of "Hang on" accessories, two electric fans installed in the lamp to keep lamp set at low temperature. This lamp can be made either 150W HQI or 250W HQI with blue PL tubes at both side of the lamp. The Dymax Metal Halide Lamp has made for its multiple features an essential vital for your marine aquarium. A little short history of this lightset I bought this lightset from another fellow reefer here. Intended to install it but my parents were very against this bulky big lightset and anyway total objection. It was sad but I ended up storing it away in my storeroom for months because I thought of taking some time to persuade my parents but I have to give up. Family still comes first, dont want to have a war because of a lightset so I am selling it now. Thus honestly it is a very new set. PM me if you are interested. I am selling it for $400 but price negotiable. Thank you
  16. You can buy it from Marine Life. It is located in the west http://www.sgreefclub.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=73301
  17. Some information on this fish. Hope useful for you. http://www.peteducation.com/article.cfm?cl...;articleid=1874
  18. Thanks Tineng. I have 1 question though. I recall that chillers also have recommended flowrate too. If the flowrate is too high, the chiller may not be able to cool the passing water fast enough. If the flowrate is too slow, then the chiller will take longer to chill the entire tank. For my 4ft tank, some brothers recommended before that I should at least have a 3000l/h flowrate to cycle the water. Thus, lets say I am using a 3000l/h return pump, the chiller which I should buy must be able to 'take' that flowrate. Am I correct? Actually I am looking at Resun CL450 at the moment. The specification is as: POWER: 1/6HP VOLT: 220V/50HZ ICE MEDIUM: R134A PUMP OUTFLOW:>1200L/H REFRIGERATING CAPACITY: 450W RECOMMENDED WATER VOLUME: <450L WEIGHT: 18kg DIMENSION: 38x29x43cm It says pump outflow is >1200L/H, so is 3000L/H pump too fast for it? Or is it still ok?
  19. Hi brothers, Need some advice on my setup. I am using a 4ft tank with IOS and no sump. Due to the space constraint, there is no way for me to add another sump, and because of that I only have a small IOS unit that I can play around for my equipment setup. As you may have guessed, the IOS unit is already holding up 2 water pumps - 1 for my protein skimmer, 1 as the return pump to bring the water back to the main tank. I have a biochiller and I am actually using the return pump to move the water from the IOS - biochiller - main tank. I would like to know if this is appropriate? Am I exerting too much 'workload' for the return pump? How is a normal chiller setup? Does it necessary must use a separate water pump? In any case, my biochiller is spolit now and I am planning to get a new chiller. I would like to know what are the alternatives I have before I choose the chiller and perhaps an additional pump...but really have no more place for a 3rd pump Thanks!
  20. Thanks guess the best choice is not to risk...
  21. Hi brothers, Does anyone has experience in pairing true percula? My previous experience for true percula: I bought 2 unpaired true percula before and was totally unaware that they needs to be paired out. Once I put 2 of them into the tank, they fought fiecrely but only after a few hours the fighting ceased and they 'paired' off after some time... Unfortunately now the female is gone and I am left with the male. I am thinking of getting a new partner for him, but I am not sure how to pair them up again... Do they have to go through the 'fight' again? Anyone can share their experience?
  22. Thanks. Whew, tough job...I just finished cleaning up the 4ft tank walls off the green algae using a hard card, damn tired sia... Think I saw an ad from Aquamarine sellimng the Easy Blade, I will go down for a look Just hope it is not too expensive for an algae scraper...
  23. THIS IS SO COOL! I have never thought a hard card will work. I just tried out and immediately cleaned 1/4 of my side wall in 5 mins. Sad to say, my tank is in the balcony thus sunlight is always causing the algae growth at the tank side. After some time, I gave up fighting the algae growth since they are too stubborn to be removed, not even with the usual magnet cleaners Now a hard card works! YAY! By the way, is there some product that has the same 'power' as the hard card? At least I dont need to hold the card for ...like 30 mins? haha...having a 4ft tank is no easy cleaning job.
