  1. Oh ok, there are 2 options: Option 1: - Take the NorthEast Line to Boon Keng Station. - As you come out from Station Control, turn to your right and walk along the long long underpass, then take the escalator up. - You'll see a big open field in front of you. - Walk along the big field till you see a row of old shophouses across the road. - Cross the road and walk along that row of shophouses and you'll see Reborn. Option 2: - Take the East-West line to Lavender station. - From the bus stop opposite the ICA building (immigration building), there are several buses you can take. - I can't remember which buses exactly, but you can ask the bus drivers that you want to go to Eminent Plaza (some bus drivers don't know where's eminent plaza, so last time i asked for Singapore casket... it's along the same road) - Alight at the Eminent Plaza bus stop - Just walk straight along the main road (need to cross a road junction), to reach the row of old shophouses. Reborn is like just 100m away from that bus stop. Hope the directions help..
  2. I don't think the LFS would actually spend the money to pump water from deep under the water surface... They probably just drive their lorry with a big water tank at the back, and pump the water up from the beach with a hose. Maybe not East Coast... some ulu beach instead... like Pasir Ris Beach, Pulau Ubin or Sentosa.
  3. Oh i didn't ask them the price... but they didn't have very many in stock leh, those that i saw i think can count with 1 hand.. and out of those i saw only a couple or so are of a manageable size (S/M).. the rest XL sizes one.
  4. I don't think it really matters what kind of gloves you use, as long as you avoid the rubber examination gloves (that doctors and nurses use when examining patients) which will leave powder everywhere..
  5. Well cos different people have different preferences for LR shape, size etc... so best to choose yourself. Now when choosing LRs at the LFS, i always grab it using pincer grip (index and thumb, of both hands), to minimise the surface contact area of my hand with the LR. So if really suay suay kenna, only my finger will kenna. Otherwise whole palm may kenna splinters, and that's really no joke.
  6. That's why should always wear gloves when handling LRs... lots of wierd and sometimes dangerous stuff in there. Sometimes there may even be a mantis shrimp hiding inside and its certainly not fun getting your finger stabbed by a mantis shrimp...
  7. Please post a pic of your octopus! Fascinating creatures. As long as you ensure that yours is NOT a blue-ring octopus.
  8. Yes, i've got this too when i handled my LRs last time... If you look closely, they are actually tiny splinters stuck to your finger, or whichever part of you that got stung. The bristles of a bristleworm?? If you can see the splinter, you can pull it out with a pair of tweezers. Otherwise the part will hurt whenever it comes into contact with any surface. Will last for a couple of days then no more pain liao. Think the splinters fell out by itself, given time.
  9. By the way, Reborn always has a constant steady supply of this filefish... anyone interested can check out those at Reborn.
  10. Whoever buys the octopus please keep us posted on how the octopus is doing in his/her tank!
  11. Reborn's fish shipment today got... saddleback clown! Not so commonly available clownfish. Also have assorted angels, wrasses, etc etc. Was there at around 6pm just now, and my goodness... saw kiasuism first-hand.. Lots of people crowding at the back of the shop, watching the Reborn people unpack the lifestock, so as to be the first to grab whatever they want, the minute it is unpacked. Frankly, i was quite shocked.
  12. No difference between scooping the seawater off the beach yourself and buying NSW from the LFS.. Cos they all come from the same source -> the sea! So if you're gonna lug big packs of water back from the LFS, might as well collect yourself from the beach... free.
  13. Used to keep 1 last time, but died mysteriously after a week. It was eating greedily, and had no signs of disease at all.
  14. Wow! Wonder how much one black-tip is going for... $1000???
  15. Just wondering: what's the average price of a flame angel?
  16. Adult blood shrimp can try Reborn... they got alot in the shipment last weekend. Not sure if they have any left, though. But i think they are closed on tuesday, if i'm not wrong.
  17. Yes, sounds like ich to me... very similar to what i suffered a year ago. Do not add any more fishes... let your tank go fishless for 3 months. The invertebrates will be fine, don't worry. They are not affected by ich. Do not add any medication or perform hyposalinity treatment, as these will kill your inverts.
  18. That's interesting... cos in my experience fire shrimps are the most delicate creatures in the tank. But i suppose it has alot to do with the initial health of the shrimps as well. How did your tank crash? Maybe due to a parasitic infection such as ich that wiped out the fishes but not the inverts?
  19. That's true... certain shrimps are exceptionally sensitive, such as the Blood (Fire) shrimp. When water quality deteriorates, they will stop eating.. first sign of more bad things to come.
  20. Just came back from Ah Beng's, didn't see any YT or PT.. For those looking for the purple flame goby, Ah Beng's is selling for $12 (if i remember correctly)..
  21. Ok, just went to Reborn in the late afternoon... they were still unpacking the newly arrived lifestock, but below was what caught my eye: 1) Regal angelfish (M/L) 2) Emporer Angelfish (mainly juveniles, a couple of adult colouration sighted) 3) Sailfin tangs 4) Brown tangs 5) Lots of Powder Blue Tangs! 6) Coris Wrasses (Both the yellow banana wrasses and the red coris wrasses) 7) Lots of Ocellaris clownfishes (M/L) 8) Lots of Bloodshrimps, common boxer shrimps 9) Panthar grouper (small, cute juveniles) 10) Purple Flame Goby! -> Each going for $18, i think 11) Prickly leatherjacket filefishes (a whole variety of sizes) 12) Whimple fishes (a.k.a 'The Poor Man's Moorish Idol'... Sizes = LARGE) 13) Butterflyfishes (got several species.. but like all medium or large sizes) 14) Tangoroa gobieees .... and lots more that i can't remember liao...
  22. Pinnatus batfish never survives in captivity! It's one of those fishes that should never be sold at all in the first place..
  23. Unlikely that they have starved to death... More likely that they are already 'beat' when you bought them, due to rough handling on the part of the LFS and the wholesaler. I always have the same problem with coris wrasses... they are very delicate. They appear healthy the first few days in the tank, but all die invariably within a week. Never have problems with other fishes. That's why it's always good to observe the fish in the LFS's tank for a few days before buying... the 'beat' specimens will generally not last more than 1 week.
