  1. So the aiptasia war has gone the way of the aiptasia so far. File fish dead, aiptasia still thriving. I wanted to post a WTB in the pasar malam but for some reason I cannot start a new topic. Can someone tell me why? Looking for aiptasia eating CBs or file fish...
  2. The chaeto I have in my refugium should help with phosphate removal right? Kenyee, do you use anti chlorine? Or do you just let your tap water sit overnight?
  3. Does anyone use tapwater to top up evaporation loss? Ever since I've started using NSW for water change again, I've been too lazy to purify my tap water. Just wondering what the downside to this is. Algae bloom?
  4. So I finally got myself a filefish from Ah Beng over the weekend. I think it is a mutant. It seems to be pals with the aiptasia!!!
  5. No problem. The aiptasia is really annoying me. It's covering all the rocks and killing of corals which it's in contact with, like my blastos, zoas, etc, I got a copperband which then ate all my tube worms but left the aiptasia alone. The copperband subsequently died. I've tried squirting Joe's juice but then the aiptasia which I thought had disintegrated suddenly reappeared again.
  6. Digibee, you still have the filefish? Can lend me? hahaha
  7. How much does one cost? To avoid unnecessary mishaps with my other fleshy corals, maybe I'll keep this filefish in a separate tank and put the rocks that have aiptasia it. Once it's cleaned out the aiptasia, I'll pump the "clean" rock back in the main tank....
  8. In better times, there were bigger tangs. The AT is one fish that I've not had any success with whatsoever. By the way, can anyone tell me where I can get Berghia Nudibranchs? My tank (and corals) is being overrun by aiptasia. If anyone has aiptasia-eating peppermints, please let me know too.
  9. My experience with LED has been that the potential cost savings as far are electricity is concerned is negated by the cost of the LED equipment and the repair costs when they get spoiled (which has been quite often). I don't know, maybe I suay. I have been using Maxspect G170W. Driver spoil, bulb spoil, etc etc, and all after warranty period ends. And the repair usually a few hundred bucks. Trying to save peanuts but land up losing coconuts.
  10. Is there a link to the tank build on another forum? If so, can share the link?
  11. Hi All I got 1 pail of coral chips to give away. Had it in my sump for about half a year. Taken out and rinsed already. If interested, please sms me. 98004990. Cheers
  12. Photography can be as poisonous as reefing man. Tling, I used a Canon 7D and a Canon 100mm f2.8 macro lens. Am not really up to date on the latest cameras out there and their specs, but I would suggest looking for one that has a high ISO setting. My 7D can go up to 6400 but some models can go even higher. The higher the ISO, the easier it will be to "freeze" motion using higher shutter speeds, otherwise the fish will look like a blur. If are thinking of taking close ups, then obviously a macro lens is preferable as well. You're welcome to PM if you want to discuss.
  13. Nice scape. Like the blue sponges, in particular.
  14. Right End. Guess photos look better on the iphone than they do over here.
  15. Did a bit of rescaping over the weekend. Went shopping for seafans and got a little carried away...

    WTG Sand

Mixture of size 0 and size 1 sand. About 10 litres. I bought more than I needed. Washed already, although it's been sitting in the corner for about 3 weeks now. Collection near Tanah Merah MRT. Let me know if interested.
