  1. Have any of you tried buying frozen seafood mixes from the grocer, grinding it and then feeding it to your fish? Is it safe? Should I worry about chlorine-soaked meat?
  2. Interesting project. Maybe I can incorporate it into my database http://reef.web-genesis.net/
  3. hehe...yes, on hindsight, it is rather vague... no implication...just wondered if one has to do with the other.
  4. I don't know whether the refugium I bought is responsible or not, but I've found that my water has clarified a great deal since I installed it.
  5. One of the clauses: 2.4 Subject to this Clause 2, You may only hyperlink a website registered in Your name to the homepage of the URL. 6. If I put link to streetdirectory, will I have any copyright issues with them? Heard they've been sueing the pants off businesses. Can anyone confirm 100% what is the deal?
  7. Hi guys. I have received numerous PMs telling me that some of the info is outdated. I'd appreciate it if you could provide the exact info so that I can update it immediately, without going through the hassle of searching for the info. For the life of me, though, I can't seem to find the latest info on Bio-Ocean Aquarix. Please help. happy new year
  8. Disclaimer: This database is strictly neutral. The service is free-of-charge and voluntary. It is not used only by members of this forum, but also members of other marine forums. Thus, information is gleaned from multiple sources and other local forums. I seek your kind understanding in this. =========== If you have any suggestions for improvements, do let me know. I'll find the time to implement them. Regards
  9. Generally speaking, the rating is based on user input. The calculation itself is a generic system which I obtained from the web. Might be controvosial, though, I'll give you that. But should serve as a rough guide to new reefers. If any abuse of the rating system is apparent, I'll think about removing it.
  10. great skimmer. Would get it off your hands if I hadn't an I~Ref already hanging from the back of my tank. upz!
  11. Hi there, thanks for the feedback. If you clicked on the LFS name, you would see the operating hours. Admittedly, though, I don't have the complete info. Most of it is based on the excel file that one reefer here created. All credit to him. Those who LFS-hop a lot and can't bear the inaccurate info on my database should PM me and I'll definitely grant acccess to do updates...
  12. Would you guys find this useful? http://reef.web-genesis.net/ Do let me know. Regards PS: List is incomplete.
  13. Just out of curiosity (I might have missed this), but do you all quarantine fishes for at least 2 weeks before putting into main tank?
  14. Had the same "problem" with my tubeworm once. I noticed that it starts to ejaculate when the temp reach a certain high, say 28 deg. My mom was so horrifed that she took it out and threw it away...*sigh* After I told her that the sperm is harmless, we now chuckle when we see the 'white smoke'...so far only happen twice...
  15. Hi all, I have designed a very basic database of LFS in singapore and mounted it on my own server. Most of the entries were gleaned from this forum, especially from Odi's Excel contribution. (Thanks!) It's found here: http://reef.web-genesis.net/ This is strictly a voluntary effort, not a commercial one. I hope you all will find it useful, and let me know how I can improve it. There are a lot of incomplete info, so I'll appreciate it if these are highlighted to me. For those who LFS-hop a lot and want to add to the database , drop me a PM, so that I can give you access to database. regards
  16. Maybe got fish disturb... any copperbands around?
  17. Garlic-laced food works. I've tried it. No other medication and my precious yellow tang is still alive... Always acclimatise new lifestock properly so as to reduce stress. Some sensitive fish (like Tangs) are vulnerable to ich when put under stress.
  18. Sold to yours truly. shoelevy came all the way to my house to help set it up...good job!
  19. Hi there, Recently bought a sander maxiskim from shoelevy. Producing good foam, but little skimmate. The problem, I think, is in tuning it. It is a counter current type skimmer, similar to Lee's counter current skimmer. Anyone has an idea on how to tune it properly? Some issues I face: 1. If some micro-bubbles escape from the water-intake slots, does it mean the counter flow is backing up some? 2. If so, would increasing the air-flow through the 'return tube' be the answer? (my understanding is that this will make the counter current flow more strongly against the bubbles, yes?) 3. Increasing the air-flow through the 'return-tube' would in turn produce a lot of surface bubbles (salt creep), any idea how to reduce this?
  20. Hullo, hippo. Good to hear, but I didn't receive your PM, so I PM'ed you instead.
  21. I assume CF is CoralFa**... But what and where is wakai? thanks
  22. Quite affordable from eAquaN*****. Seriously considering it, but have no idea where to get macroalgae. All the LFS I frequent seem to have reservations on stocking marine fauna. Any ideas?
  23. Check PM btw, what do you mean by 90% condition? Any faulty parts?
