i think the common issues are 1) electrical bills 2) saltwater on floor 3) equipment sound/heat given off 4) too much attention/$$ on the reef tank instead

for a 2 ft 24W is HO. No is 14W.

FR is of course better. mesh bag also can but have to shake it abit once in a while to prevent channelling. Rate of change follow the manufacturer instruction, or e.g: if the bottle says the 400 grams treats your tank for a month, then change 100 grams per week.

i know of such case too. Had a friend who started a small 2 feet. 5 months later his mum woke him up 8am in the morning with a wet living hall. the front of the tank cracked. he had to mop the floor like... 10 times!!
