Extra funding to sustain our favourite hobby!!!
hotlemond replied to Sandisct's topic in General Reefkeeping_
yo yo... another forum. Greetings. and Sandisct. Welcome to Sg Reef. despite your all out efforts, the response are 82.61% negative. but dun feel disheartened if you are, cos we dun get and expect newbies to pull this kind of stunt here. For a start. not that we are conservative, really. But like the old' wise men use to say "good things dun comes easy" and hey, you can't blame us for that, cos we takes a slow month just to cycle a tank, and a year long to mature one. So, while you are waiting for the negative figure to fall, drop by often at the forum core dept. I am sure your usual hangout session at RC have equip you to speak and understand reefer's language. its a marine forum after all. -
i think the common issues are 1) electrical bills 2) saltwater on floor 3) equipment sound/heat given off 4) too much attention/$$ on the reef tank instead

carbon in filter bag or fr better ?
hotlemond replied to Hi_Bear_Bear's topic in New to the Marine Aquaria Hobby
FR is of course better. mesh bag also can but have to shake it abit once in a while to prevent channelling. Rate of change follow the manufacturer instruction, or e.g: if the bottle says the 400 grams treats your tank for a month, then change 100 grams per week. -
sony? yah.., the jog dial. analogue ones are in this manner

hotlemond replied to Anemone's topic in General Reefkeeping_
i know of such case too. Had a friend who started a small 2 feet. 5 months later his mum woke him up 8am in the morning with a wet living hall. the front of the tank cracked. he had to mop the floor like... 10 times!! -

buddie/block list function in your control menu? -
I think basically it will be better to use synthetic grease for the bearing. it will be better to remove all the bearing and re-sit them. try Super Lube brand, cheap, good and high-tech. DIY handifix store. http://www.super-lube.com/

hotlemond replied to weileong's topic in General Reefkeeping_
wah, WL. seldom see you start a topic here, i suppose you are VERY TL with the fellow. eh? I am aware of equipments that are DIY able but not of the chillers stuff. seems like he's expanding his "business" -
this is a very popular skimmer that had a strong string of fans with it, especially in the West. comparable if not better than, to an Euro-Reef upzz for your sales.

Latest update: all items available are sold off except for Ehiem 1262 pump pending collection tomorrow morning. Thank you all for the comments and support. Thread closed.
