bro, for ph, u can get a pen type ph meter or test kit. as for the rest, test kits r readily available. Is your tank a new setup ? i suspect so. If you are really worried, do a water change first. say abt 20%. What is your tank size and filtration being used ? Do read more before buying/ keeping marine life. Good luck !

bro Jenson, I had used as100p on my 2 ft tank previously. Takes 2 to 4 days to stabilised. It is really efficient. NH4, NO2 zero and NO3 <5. I think one of the problem u will face is the massive bubbles produced by the skimmer. Get a sponge and wrapped the output of the skimmer. See Weipro design. Noise might be a concern for you too. Extend the air hose and the noise will be softer. If u want total silence, get those wood diffuser (that is used in air driven skimmer) and plug it in the air hose. One more thing, try to maintain the water/ bubble level at the red level when operating. This will provide optimium efficiency. U can email /PM for any problem... glad to help...

From my understanding, there are 2 main types of bacteria. aerobic bacteria -> convert NH4 to NO2 to NO3 anaerobic bacteria -> convert NO3 to N2 bioball / coral chips consists of aerobic bacteria only as there are not deep holes/ pores to allow anaerobic bacteria to thrive. On the other hand, normal size live rocks also provides a base for aerobic bacteria to grow. Only huge live rocks have deep holes (oxygen depleted areas) to nurture anaerobic bacteria. pls correct me if i am wrong. willing to learn from the experts out there.

Need to clarify. I thought live rock and bio ball/coral chip serve the same function ? Provide a place to bacteria to thrive on. So why is live rock better than bio ball/coral chip ?

what is the max flow rate ?

i think i read some where that lettuce and 'pang cai' not good for fish . those vegetables might contain some pesticide or harmful chemical. the nutrition level not not high too. Nori is the best. If your tang does not feed on nori, u can try to add garlic to it. Tangs do feed on macro algae... eg grape and etc... though it is expensive but is nutrition and it is their natural food. juz my thoughts....

i bought the seachem denitrate and place it on top of my sump DSB. although the specs says that the flow rate cannot exceed 200 litres per hour but how do i know the flow rate ? anyway i think my sump flow rate definitely exceed 200 litres per hour. what should i do besides getting a FR ? Thought of digging a hole in the DSB to put the seachem denitrate. any comments ? My return pump is 3500 litres per hour. My sump consists of 3 compartment. first is the compartment for wool and coral chips. second for DSB. third for return pump and skimmer. pls help .
