  1. Saw a seahorse in your tank, can survive meh? With so many other tank mates. Use Imager, paintbrush or other photo editor to resize before you post.
  2. Interested in your cow & coral beauty. 6ft fish only bungalow to house them Sure? Can I turn your tank upside down and pick it up from the floor?
  3. hmmm... either your tank not cycled, if not it's "bio-overloaded" Suggest you redo your tank with right equipment & procedure. IMO, 2ft can keep marine successfully if you do it correctly. Some basic marine books even show you how to set up under gravel filter. Its just not suitable for long run. Don't think your problem lies with that since its only a month. FYI, I don't even test water parameter with new setup. Everything will be in order when I did it correctly.
  4. Hi berrykin, It seems so fun to catch your own marine fish. Can you catch them with a net (size like those for catching butterfly)? Do you have to get yourself wet? Is this the exact location? Please advice me
  5. emperorangel, One more thing, I believe the purpose of air-dryer is to make the ozoniser more efficient. Since only 5-10 mg/hr is required, why don't you set it to a higher value and do away with the air-dryer? Isn't the effect the same? I think the content of air-dryer is silicon gel use in dry-box for storing camera. They are sold at about $3 per bottle. The air-dryer you bought are $80. Sorry to say that, the price don't seem to be justifiable.
  6. Are you refering to the ozoniser? I'm using the Sander 100mg/hr. The below picture is the orp controller I'm having. It's able to switch on/off the ozoniser at preset value. Where can I buy the air tube? I mean the one way valve that prevent water from flowing back to air pump. I have tried the $2 plastic check valve, after few hour, it don't "check" any more. Now I've found the $4 stainless steel type use for planted tank, so far so good. Need that cos ozone reactor are pressurised, should air pump fail, water will flow to air tubing. Ya I always choose to learn the hard way, so disaster make me remember better Thank you so much.
  7. Hi Woonming, Finally we meet here. Thanks for the j.can discount. Upgrading to m/h liao? Have you bought the ballast, etc...? Why do you need a 400 watts?
  8. emperorangel, can show me pic how you do that?
  9. Hi emperorangel, Me also using ozonizer I run it to a diy ozone reactor follow by a diy carbon filter container. I have a separate orp controller but doesn't seem to be working properly. Didn't know have to clean the probe with special solution. Thought of getting a new probe but what if the fault lies with the equipment. Don't want to waste unnecessory money. I used to run into skimmer, air-hose melted, electric cables around the sump melted. Very scary. Changed to UV and now back to O3. Have purchase O3 test kit (from USA internet dealer) recently but don't seem to be working. Can't detect anything at all. Probably O3 is so unstable such that it would be dissipated from the water sample during collection. Waste money again. Any idea where to get ozone safe air tube and check valve? Afraid they'll melt over time.
  10. How to reduce salinity: Drain about 1/4 (or slightly lessor) of water from tank, top up fresh water (make sure fresh water are "de-chlorinated"). Test SG, drain and replace with fresh water, repeat until you reach SG 1.014. Reduce PH? for what? PH has to be maintained at 8+. Measure with test kit. I prefer the "litmus" paper type. Normally Ph is not a concern for established tank. If PH happens to be a problem, dose ###### buffer to increase dKH (to about 8-9), high dKH = stable PH. I think this has been discussed in other threads. Nori: AT (boss) actually posted a review on nori. Its actually those dark purple seaweed that we mix with steamboat. Can get it anywhere, like ntuc or market. Remember not to buy those nicely packed japanese brand. Problem is getting some fish to try it. Shop in B***t T***h...... many ###### experience.......better don't comment anything, wait I get warning I think you should reduce salt level first, this is easiest and most effective of all. Good luck.
  11. Rufff, If your tank is well cycled, ammonia & nitrite is normally negligible. What filter are you using? Maybe it cannot cope with the bio-load. Butterfly & angel are very sensitive, that's why they die first. Even with tip top water quality and great filter/equipment, these fish may get itch. Diseases are normally introduced and spread from new fish addition. Especially from butterfly, angels & tangs. That is why a quarantine tank is so important for new comers. What I do: - Reduce salinity level to SG 1.014 for 1 month. (this is very effective) - Osmotic Shock - Dose Paraguard (brand is Seachem if I'm not wrong)-It is an all in one medication. Have tried many, find this cheap & good. - Feed with garlic soaked pellet if they're eating. What I don't do: - Fresh water dip, it will stress the fish further. Need to chase after the fish. Any bro here can share your success story? Did you adjust freshwater ph to 8? how? - Copper dose, it is very difficult to remove after treatment. Osmotic Shock is more effective & it is free Just my 2 cents
  12. neat work, dersuz Where did you buy the box (which shop in SLT) and how much? Does it come with the cable connector pole? Do you cut a rectangular hole on the surface of the box? I seriously wanted to build one.
  13. is this how masked angel look like? Do you have pic?
  14. diabolus, i want 10kg. but can only collect earliest friday night. let me know if this can be arranged.
  15. If putting an acrylic partition is possible, they'll be in harmony again when you remove it later.
  16. Have research on RO sometime back (for drinking). IMO, 3 stage should be sufficient. 4/5 stages is impressive, but higer cost of maintaining. The RO membrane stage is the one that does the job. Output - Higher is better, if cost is not the concern. I would choose one that is just sufficient for water top off. Where do you intend to buy from? US are priced much lower than local. Except for one that I saw in TV media shop, I think $300+ only.

  18. Thinking of converting my 3ft pond in balcony into a reef pond. The config are: -There's no direct sunlight (but bright) and water temperature is quite cool. -Intend to keep some soft corals and invertebrates. Also use as 2nd quarantine tank if there's need. A fairly bare tank in mind. -Have a DSB but small amount of Live rock (reason: lots of live rock will block the top view) -Powerheads & skimmer Question: -What filter to use? (space constraint) Due to low bio-load, Will overhead filter work? -Any other consideration?

AT, thanks for the advice. I think I'm willing to give it a try if the cost of beckett + shipping is not high. I should be quite happy if the result is at least better than the current one.

just found this thread http://www.sgreefclub.com/forum/index.php?...wtopic=279&st=0 I think I'm going to try the beckett. anyone can tell me where to buy it? (i.e. beckett #1048). Amazon no longer carries it.
  21. If SRC is around when I first started with marine. My store room wouldn't have all these junks now.... leeweixiang, listen to the old birds, you'll appreciate it in later stage.

Tanzy, don't understand what you meant thought venturi valve is just a hose connected after or before the pump sticking out from the water to suck air. totally different from beckett.
