  1. Hey Guys!!! Anything I can do to get rid of pesky slugs that feast on Zoos... They were breeding like mad and I already lost one bunch of nice zoos to a colony of them... Try taking them out one by one but can't seem to get rid of all... Any other method I can try? They are small with greenish tentacles growing on their back (The tentacles look like zoos and probably is used as a camouflage) Damn hard to see man... took me half an hour to spot three and took them out...
  2. It is a monitor lizard... very common in Singapore waters.... I hate them! They are a bane to my taxidermy work... at times when I leave skulls to rot and process, they will come and drag it away to feast.... I have seen one dragging away a huge oxen head that is twice the size before.. powerful fellow and to some army boyz, delicious too
  3. Ok Sugi, Seeing that no one reply to your thread.. I will be the one to explain why u dun get any response even thought you are giving a freebie... The fact is damsels are aggressive and true reefers don't really go for them... Sorry to hurt u but it's a fact lah...
  4. Will definitely look cool if place in front of a Harley bike as well! By the way, SpiderOne... U sure u wanna place it on your head?? Damn heavy u know? I pm u for more details... But the skull will be really cool for those who are into aquarium landscaping... My friend have an african antelope skull inside his African Cichlid Tank... As for Rumor, SUX 177E will probably not be approved. Just as much as SAX, SAD, ###### 6969 and all the different vowels... LTA is skipping vowels in the middle because they form words...
  5. I will go back and measure. But you can roughly estimate by comparing with the tile flooring. Each tile on my floor measures 1 sq feet (30cm by 30cm). Judging from the horns, it's about 2 ft across and 1.5ft from the nose cavity to the back...
  6. It's real... I processed it... To see some of my workpieces, do a search in KopiTiam for "taxidermy"... Actually, thought of using it as a centerpiece for my freshwater tank but my tank too small... It's not chipped, nice piece... Interest pls pm me... can negotiate...
  7. 50 - 100ppm sounds serious... Maybe you wanna share with us your LS? How many fishes u have? Are u overstocking?
  8. Dear all, I am cleaning up my place and am getting rid one of my workpiece... (It's a waste as I got no space available to store it) It's a mountain goat skull... Anyone looking for something like this... for shop or home decor or those Warcraft fanatics would want to make an orcish flag banner with it? Interested please PM me... But I wouldn't clear it to any worshippers! Only art lovers please...
  9. 2nd pix reminds me of the Truman Show... where Jim Carrey tries to paddle out to sea and hit the wall, he looks up the sky and it looks like a ceiling.. hehe.
  10. Looks like computer edited.... see clearly nemo head is pasted...
  11. Sharks need lots and lots of space... and yeah, it's illegal...
  12. Mine used to be damn chio mermaid... 1000 years ago... now all dried up but still ######...
  13. Err... I thot it's calcium that is needed for molting not iodine? Common sense what... shells are calcium based???
  14. Sand can deplete (esp Grade 0) in the following possible ways: 1) Erosion over time with current movements... 2) Getting compact.... * Note: you must be mindful too of the fast rate of dissolution of some sand beds. In most healthy systems, fine aragonite has a "half-life" of 18-24 months. That means that after two years, perhaps, a 3" sand bed will have been reduced to 1.5" and possibly failing in its duties (another unheralded cause for the unfair criticisms of mismanaged DSBs). For this reason, aquarists seeking optimum nitrate control are advised to resist being frugal and apply honestly deep sand beds, and adding more substrate as necessary in time. Extracted from the following website: http://www.wetwebmedia.com/deepsandbeds.htm
  15. Sand does deplete over time (not at a visible rate) esp if you are using grade 0. You may use flat LR as base if you like... I am just giving other possible options... there's no right or wrong on this... What is more important is no matter what you use as base, it has to be flat and even....
  16. If lettuce slug (or nudibranch) then it eats algae... otherwise most of them eat sponge... Good luck to you... and your nudibranch... cause they are hard to keep...
  17. Most reefers use a base to support the live rocks... e.g. section cuts of plastic pipings... I have a DSB myself of 4'. Sand will deplete over time. Your 6" DSB may become 4" or less as the time goes by. Some website advocates placing the LR first and then the DSB for stability... but then again, isn't that a big waste of LR? That's when base supports come into play... firstly, it even out the weight distribution of the LR. LRs have jagged edges and it's not good if they are resting directly on your bottom glass panel.. (Risk of cracking due to acute pressure). Just remember, your base supports mustn't be anything metal or wood... Must be plastic.... I heard of people using CD covers, plastic egg cartons to stack also.. Put base first, fill sand until some of the base is still visible and put LR on top of the bases... cover up with remaining sand so base is concealed. Picture says a thousand words... lousy sketch but just to give you an idea:
  18. This is interesting.... reefers usually complain about temperature being too high and not too low... I agree with Clownfish, temperature don't fluctuate much in Singapore.... if your tank is in an air-con room, I think it's ok... The white spots... could it be from something else rather than temperature?
  19. Thanks everyone! I wondered also those blue, yellow and colourful sponges we see, are they artificially coloured because they LOOK so artificial...
  20. A lot of people has asked about Geo liquid before. Suggest u do a search on the forum and look for answers... Generally, Geo liquid works by binding the lighter particles and make them sink to the sandbed (That's why your water looks clear after that). It solves one problem but only creates another... (Particles settling and accumulating on your sandbed)... My famous saying: Even though I am a Sea Monkee, I don't endorse anything a monkey is endorsing....
  21. Hey guys, I was advised to add colour in my tank.. too dull... (See under members tank) What sort of corals (that are colourful) which you guys would recommend? Everything I see is either green or reddish brown at LFS.... Right now I have: 1) Blue sponge 2) Green ricordea x 2 (shrooms) 3) Sea fan 4) Zoos... x 1 5) sun coral.... Anything else to suggest? Thanks! or anyone can frag me some blue mushrooms? I will deeply appreciate it...
  22. Hey guys, I just got some colourful sponges, any idea how to take care of them? Besides, not taking them out of the water (which I heard they will die if expose too long to air), what other things must I watch out for....
