  1. Strange.. IF it's really iron steel, by the time one to two weeks, you should have lots of rush in your tanks. Cos only iron steel are magnetic, and iron steel is most vulnerable in salt water corrosion. So, what might be those that is magnetic and yet not iron steel metal ?
  2. Wow... sharing the same lights as the fishes.. interesting ...
  3. Boxer and Cleaner shrimp definitely cannot live together. The boxer will eat up the cleaner shrimp. The rest I'm also trying to find out. Cheers !
  4. for one ft or 1.5ft tank, it is possible to use just medium size filter box and a SGD8 air pump driven skimmer. It's depending on what you put in the filter box. The following is what I have used and is running stabily : 1. Get yourself one piece of filter bag. ard $1.5 to $3 depending on brand 2. Pour in some activated charcoal + C3 coral sand into the filter bag to fill up the bag 3. Remove all the default filter media from the filter box. 4. Firstly place substantial ceramic ring @ the base of the filter box 5. Place custom-prepacked filter bag on top of the ceramic ring 6. Place sponge or wool on the inlet compartment of the filter box to filter off larger substrate Maintainence for small tank will need approximate one per week 10% water change and use the pumped out salt water to clean the filter bag (shake out all the accumulated dirts) and clean the sponge or wool as well. Add C3 coral sand as seabed around 1" thick + some live rocks+ one or two pieces of plant (to help to bring down nitrate level) + bacteria dosage weekly (after water change), you should be able to maintain a stable small marine tank. My cycling period around 3weeks. However, please take note that your bio-load cannot be too high as the nitrate level will be too high for the filter box to handle. I have a 2" tomato clown + three green gromish + two cleaner shrimps. and should still able to add on slightly more if you want to (but always start slow in your bio-load) Happy Setting up !

  14. Had very bad experience on undergravel filter. Now using Canister filter without any problem. If would be good to remove the undergravel filter cos it cost me the lives of my blue regal tank and a couples of other fishes due to probably toxification of hydrogen sulfide accumulation after a month or so.
