tik u going off topic. no need to know abt light mah. ppl talking abt suncoral which dun need much light. corals that need light to help them produce food is more greenish in colour generally. suncoral u need to target feed them. as they got each polpy. each one need to be feed. quite tedious work. u can cut small shrimp meat place it near their "mouth". Suncoral are active only at night. Place them under rocks from lights, n ensure there's a ample current blowing at them. Its a beauty, but not for lazy reefers.

take time lah. need for the organic waste to build upz. when the tube is dirty/season, skimming will be easier. so try not to clean the skimmer too much. for those using external pump, got to clean the pump.

Got it from Bawater recently. Have not used it till last week, but too small for my (cycling) 3ft tank. I added 2 pack active carbon ($10), bio-rings ($10), new sponge ($3) , ehiem rubber hose ($5) n hard tube ($8). Self-collection $50 at Sembawang, or North side. If dun want the sponge, active carbon, n bio-rings. Will be $40. but of course it comes with the new (almost sparkling clean) plastic hose n tubing for the price of $40. so is still a veri good pricing. * unless u chio bu, maybe can consider delivery to your place when your parents are not ard. slurp..

For those who want to know, my anemone has not been feeding well due to the lousy host. (Tomato clown) This one was with me for abt 2-3wks. There's another one, with me for abt 3months. Doing pretty good. The host is a Maroon clown. (huge, n king of my tank) Maroon taking good care of the anemone, always automatic feed any (Excess) shrimp meat I dump in.

Look at the anemone. Still got response when u soft probe it. but the colour has change a fair bit. Its sticking "poweress" has some what reduced.

1) u can try to cannister one. but do regular cleaning. also got some wet/dry system. good too. when u mean overflow, is = ISO type is it? if it is, there's one that just slot into the tank. 2) u talking abt system or media?? n coral chips?? wat's the budget man? if budget not a problem then different, but then your fren dun want to change tank?? 3) What kindda lighting system should he use? He plans to keep 70% corals and 30% fish. Is metal hallide a must? Wat abt PL lights? What is T5? MH will be veri good for the corals. PL is not good enough. T5 barely make it. depends also on the corals he intend to keep. MH need chiller or frequent top up of water running with fans. 4) He need at least 1/2hp for the 4ft tank. anything else the chiller will overwork, n running non-stop to bring the temp down. expect electricity bill ard $50 a month onwards. 5) Not really. dun see much ppl using it. myself include. others using it may like to comment. 6) ha? dunno wat u meant place where? ?? Get phosguard. Usually from our tapwater. n nothing much u can do abt. get seawater or RO device. RO is quite expensive n will take time to get the amount of "cleanse" water. 6mm for 4ft, cannot really make it. u going to add Liverocks n stocks + sands. too heavy for it.
