  1. Nope, mine just crawls over them and stresses them out! Took out my snails though. Hehe.
  2. Hrmz, there was a recent poll and the results indicated a majority of reefers prefer mixing their own saltwater. Do a search and i think u'll be able to find it. For me, i prefer mixing my own water. Give me more peace of mind though im sure alot of reefers experience success with NSW too.
  3. Adding live rocks to your new setup will kick off the ANN cycle too. No need to use a dead prawn. Adding live nitrifying bacteria will speed up the process. Mine took almost 3 weeks to cycle. I used FRITZ ZYME #9 Saltwater Nitrifying Bacteria. Its in a 946ml bottle, able to treat approx 40 gallons of water. I got mine at $31.00.
  4. Personally i prefer live rocks for asthetic reasons. They look much nicer than dead ones. Like Ah-Lim mentioned, you could try get some cured rocks from fellow reefers. Using uncured rocks will be ok too if you are starting up a new tank.
  5. If im not wrong, they are opened everyday (except Mondays) from 12pm to ard 9pm.
  6. Hiya, My PH level this morning @ 1000 am was ard 8.0. Anyone has any idea if it'll go back to the 8.3 level yesterday as the day progresses without me doing anything?
  7. Oh ok..point noted..thanks for your help BH!
  8. Noted, i don't have a refug/sump. Will monitor the PH level for the next few days and see how it goes. Was Given advice to drip Kalk during the night time to maintain my PH level. Is it advisable?
  9. Hi fellow reefers, Is it normal for PH level to drop during night time? Will it rebound again during the following day? If its not normal, is there anything i can do to keep my PH level stable? Rdgs Qx
  10. Hi vtech2, Im relatively new in this hobby too. My total cycling time took around 3 weeks, from the time i added in uncured live rocks to my tank. I guess cycling time is very subjective, i'll try to give a brief desc of what i did when i started my tank. Day 1 > Added in uncured live rocks Day 3 > Spike in Ammonia Didn't really moniter the nitrite level but nitrate levels fell to acceptable levels (approx 25 mg/l) around week 3. Finally, transferred my LS from old tank in week 4. P.S. Added live nitrifying bacteria to speed up cycling.
  11. Oh okay, Thanks for all the replies. I'll just hope PUB doesn't take too long for their maintenance.
  12. Hrmz...any idea where i can get one of those batt operated air pumps? Preferbly near the east side. Thanks again.
  13. Hi people! PUB will be shutting down my block's electrical supple for approx 2 to 3 hours in a few day's time for maintenance. Will my LF and corals will be alright? Any precautions/preparations do i need to make? Thanks for helping! I read a similiar post somewhere but cant find it so please bear with me. Thanks!
  14. Hi people! Need some help form the experts out there. I've got a piece of bubble and its not fully opened up yet. Bought it for 2 days already. Sometimes it open up 1/2 way and close again, especially if i dim the lights. Is it normal? And any tips about placing the bubble? Like on the sandbed, low flow or high flow area...etc. Thanks in advance....happy new year!! Rdgs Qx
  15. Hi guys, Thanks for the interest. Chromis have been reserved. Will post here again if there are any updates. Thanks and happy new year!
  16. Hi fellow reefers, i have 5 small size blue/green Chromis to give away for adoption. Been in my tank for about 2 weeks. Giving them away to reduce my bioload. Interested parties please leave me a message. Collection area in SK and oh, please bring your own container. Thanks! Rdgs n Happy New Year! Qx
  17. Hiya, just got back from the shop...lots and lots of nice corals...but of course at a premium price. Heard from the guy who attended from me that the corals and the equipment are from germany, hence they are more expensive. The "live rocks" in the huge display tnaks are not REAL! They are actually handmade from i forgot what material and imported from germany. Not for sale those unless you get a whole marine tank package from them. No price avaliable on hand, he needs to fax his contact in germany. Anyway, all in all, a nice place to visit even if you dun have the cash...haha. Oh, btw...they'll be open tomorrow too....but closed every Monday after their official opening.
  18. Hi, Any kind reefers knows which LFS/Farm in SG Carries the redsea brand of skimmer and accessories? Thanks.
  19. Hi Guys...my 1st post here! Would like to comfirm if the shop will be opened today? Might pop by for a visit. Thanks!
