  1. Under the actinic, the polyp extension looks better. It may be 1) the effect of light (and not the physical coral reaction) or 2) the polyp reacts to the actinic spectrum The coralites can also be seen clearer and this is the result of the actinic illumination.
  2. With actinic, the corals look nicer. The brown body becomes green
  3. At last, my ugly DIY PL actinic is completed
  4. A picture paints a 1000 words A reefer observed that his anthias' colour is more vibrant with the feeding of cyclopeeze. I don't use garlic as my regal doesn't like it. I think the regal may be related to Dracular .The food from ML is nutritious and hopefully, it can compensate for the lack of garlic additive
  5. This is a male blue eyed anthias tt I bought from ML
  6. Your fish food looks yummy and I feel so hungry I use this filter to drain off the liquid before I feed the fish as the nutrient & PO4 content of the liquid should be high
  7. If possible, it would be good to remove the aiptasia by injecting kalkwasser paste into its mouth. If left uncheck, they may spread rapidly and hurt yr coral and fish The zoos scaping is great
  8. Today performing water change and take the opportunity to take some top down photo. without the bkue T5
  9. Perform a search on the SRC archive, I remember there were some reefers who bought half dead sun coral cheaply and nurse it to full recovery with new polyps
  10. I used to take them out (in such a way that they are submerged in seawater all the time and not exposed to air) in a container and I dumped 3-4 cubes of brine or mysis shrimps with cyclopeeze into it and stir periodically to ensure all polyps have a heavy meal. You should see new polyps growing when they are well fed. However, after some times, I got lazy and from then on, I stopped keeping suncorals. Unless the tank has lots of zooplanktons and they flow past it, the chance of it capturing zooplankton may not be sufficient. GAC is granular activated carbon Let's not dilute Jacobus thread and instead continue in your tank thread
  11. Wow, Jerismun you are so commited. Well done Suncorals need to be target fed as they don't depend on ligths to make food. This is the shortfall as too much feeding may compromise the water quality. You may need a good skimmer, water change, GAC and anti-PO4 media
  12. The livestocks recommended are just to remove the "visible" hair alage. To stop its proliferation and growth, good husbandry and eqpt are needed, like 1) skimmer 2) GAC & PO4 removal media 3) Water change 4) Feeding patterns ETC
  13. I bought 1 from ML for my wife tank and within a few days, the LR are super clean.
  14. Do a search on this forum on flatworm and you can see that they multiply rapidly. You can try the chemical way by dosing salifert FWE. FW can be removed thru fresh water dip too. I added a 6-line wrasse into mine and my wife's old tanks and the FW disappeared gradually. I have not seen it eating FW, just that I noticed the correlation.
  15. The cause of bleaching can be either too much or too little light. If you don't have a chiller, then the most probable cause is water temperature too high. What are your eqpt?
  16. I always like the effect of actinic on corals, but unable to sacrifice a blue T5 for it as the actinic is too weak and could not balance the yellow tint of MH. This is my new actinic lighting project and hopefully I have the CONTINUAL drive and energy to complete it . These PowerCompact (PL) tubes were bought from Reef Depot. I was hoping to get 2pc of 55w 2ft long PL but they don't have it. So I have to settle for 2pc of 36w @ 1.5ft long PC. These new lights will supplement the exisitng lighting fixtures
  17. The connector makes the shifting away of the T5 set easy
  18. The eballast on the back side of the T5
  19. 1) 2 x 250w SE MH with DE reflectors 2) 4 x 54w D&D Blue T5 Was using 10kk BLV blub and they were too yellowish and the 4xT5 were not bright enough to "balance" it. Manage to buy one (and only one) 250w SE 14kk BLV from Reef Depot today and the 2nd bulb is expected only @ 2 weeks later. Currently, the left is fitted with the old 10kk and the right is fitted with 14kk
  20. My Tank & the eqpt The tank size is 4ftx2x2
