  1. You are wrong, without installing a themostat and you are running your TEM Chiller 24/7 of cos electric bill goes high...
  2. Bro.... Is a big waste to cut off your Eheim 2222.... You intend to keep marine of freshwater ? Your tank 2 x 1.5 x 1ft , what temp is you aimming ? Do you know by using 4 x Micro-chiller (ice-probe) Price is higher than buying a chiller , how many electric bill cost ? If you really wanna cut your Eheim cannister, i can help you ( FOC )
  3. So far tested 2 x 1 x 1 ft lowest cooling 27oC.... BTW peltier runs 24 x 7 = Lifespan 20,000 hours...
  4. Hi... If you got no place to keep this hermitcrab, i have 20pcs of hermitcrab to keep it company..
  5. Something new on my design....... Enjoy.......
  6. Give me a shot, i though Iceprobe used gold as cooling probe... Is Stainless steel good for as cooling probe?
  7. Bro... U mean what got GOLD ? The Iceprobe?
  8. I don't think it can work, as plastics is not a good cooling conductor.
  9. I try to post a more details setup next week... Because waiting for my new cooling probe to be hard anodised, according factory aluminium alloy with hard anodising. It can last longer (1-2years) in soaking salt water, but have to handle it with care.
  10. HaHaHa..... As far as hobby, you have to spend $$.... My wife don't allow me to have a chiller in the living hall, it will warm up the hall. DIY Micro-chiller is a secret, yr family member may not know what it is. So you can keep yr aquarium cooling..
  11. Both fan & peltier needed 12V > 24V (depend which model) power supply unit with minimum 5A above to run it...
  12. It will not help. Big marine tank keeper prefer chiller..
  13. It should be able to cool small tank like 1.5ft & below... Now my worry what is the best materials to use as cooling probe ..
  14. Bro, U know y yrs failed? A peltier had a limited cooling volume with it wattage... U DIY yrs with additional container which more water volume of around 10+ ltrs which yr peltier cooler box can't cool the total volume water... Mine ideal is cooling the water volume of not more than 35ltrs, which the peltier cooling probe directly soak into water to cool it.. Sometime DIY is not $$ saving, is because we got no place to hold a chiller size which bordering our place.. About temp controlling with themostat, if got budget then we can spend additional $$ to fix on it... See this picture of 1.5ft x 1ft x 1ft with fully setup with themostat.... Hope everyone got the ideal how it the Micro-chiller soak in water for cooling..
  15. Had check some pricing on material.... 1. Heatsink ($20) ( Big size ) got FOC better 2. Aluminium cooling probe ($10) 2a. Stainless cooling probe ($40) 3. Peltier ($22) 4. Fan ($10) 5. Screw ($2) 6. Cable ($2) 7. Thermal paste ($2) 9. Themostat (Is yr wish) cost is $90 9. Power supply unit 12V - 8.5A ($55) 10. Isolate foam ($2) 11. Wire tape ($1) 12. Aluminium probe for anodising (Marine use) ($55) Above costing is estimated only (may be more or less)
  16. What i can said is tank volume below 35Ltr should be able to cool it to minimum 25-26oC... Now i am thinking of what material to use as cooling probe (for marine tank) 1. Aluminium (must anodised) 2. Stainless Steel ( OK anot ?) 3. Tatanium ( Too expensive le)
  17. I tested with only hand feeling, it cooling..... U must have fix it wrongly or yr peltier ceramic crack.. Use a battery to test yr peltier working anot... It should be 1 side hot & the other side cold...
  18. May i know this type of IOS can use to keep marine? 1.5ft_ios
  19. Hehehehe then can i have yr 2 pails of sand? This weekend collect possible ?
  20. I don't know how to explain on it. Hope this link can help more. http://www.arofanatics.com/forums/showthread.php?t=228620
