  1. A waste collector is useful not because a user may not know how to tune his skimmer. Let me put up a senario...If you are on a holiday and NO one is at home. Before you leave the house, you double checked that the skimmer is tuned at the right level...But when you were away...murphy's law strikes...your chiller breaks down...the temp hits 30 deg and above...everything start to die....the skimmer starts overflowing like crazy..and due to the super high efficieny...it skimms and skimms.....and overflows the collection cup as its full....NOT every beckett user has their skimmer in sump..so water probably starts flowing out of the collection cup...So when you come home....you will find a almost empty sump and water everywhere Water in the sump will compensate the water that overflow from the skimmer until its ###### air....and your return pump will be running dry, your beckett skimmer pump will be running dry also....
  2. Deltec self cleaning head...No waste collector thou
  3. AQUA C waste collector...pic from manufacturer website
  4. Just Pondering.......If saying skimmer should be cleaned at least once a week, and not let the waste collection cup to fill up before washing it, how come still include a hose barb for waste collector? That means skimmate may be too much that the collection cup cannot collect so much and overflow if without it?Thats why a waste collector has to come in to prevent flooding.
  5. Could be too strong current that it refuse to come out.A simple experiment is to off your pumps for a while and you will see it coming out.Suggestion is to relocate the coco worm to lower flow area
  6. A pump that is not pressure Rated will encounter back pressure due to restriction of flow at the beckett nozzle. In the long term, there is a tendency to break down. But for pressure Rated pump, it will deliver almost consistent flow rate thou it encounters flow restriction at the beckett nozzle.I believe the higher flowrate pump will deliver about the same amount of water or slightly higher compared to the pressure Rated pump after minus away head loss and restrictions in flow. Go for pressure rated IMO
  7. Never hook up so can't comment. I'm sure there are many out there using it currently who can comment.
  8. Maybe adding sand in the pipes would weight it down, then seal everything up.No air then wont float.
  9. Its possible to secure eggcrates without drilling holes.Just my suggestions.
  10. The thing is if detritus is trapped inside the pvc pipe, even you are super hardworking, how would you remove it?Take out the rack every week and try to flush it? Reefing should be a hobby to enjoy, not a slave to.I feel that cap up the pipes and gluing all the joints, less the holes being a better option. Its possible to secure the my 1 cent
  11. Would it be giving detritus a chance to get in the pvc pipes by drilling so many holes? :unsure:The aim of going bare bottom is to reduce nutrients isn't it. I might be wrong
