  4. Actually no need to fresh water soak... massive die offs will occur on the rock. Just leave it out in the open air. Occasionally sprinkle some saltwater on the rock. The worm/ crab will come crawling out.
  5. Here's the pics... told you I was bored... Pls meet Fishie and Crawlie.

  9. very nice. so wrasse is the in-thing now?
  10. Wow that is a lot of big fishes.... -Cut down feeding -Do water changes more regularly. Try checking if the water source that you use to mix saltwater already contains nitrate. Need to use DI/ RO is it does. -Are you using bio balls? need to remove slowly in phases if you are.they can only convert ammonia -> nitrite-> nitrate. You need more liverocks or DSB to complete the nitrogen cycle. Observe if situation improves after the above. In the meantime, you can try using polyfilter, seachem De-nitrate, seachem purigen to curb the nitrate level.
  11. Agree... if wanna bid, pls bid openly to avoid disbutes.

  17. Okie Let's fix it at Sunday 3pm. It will be probably be at Sherman's place or near his place at Bt Panjang. Will drop an email to everyone with the venue. Lock your calendar
  18. my 2 cents worth. The other bros will be able to give you more details when they chimed in. 1) if u noticed the 3rd picture above, water coming down from the main tank will be splashed against the "screen" of the sump... do i add the durso pipe to that??? ==> Durso pip goes into your overflow box in main tank. Pics sent in post earlier. 2) the gurgling noise generated from the flow of water is extremely noisy... seemed to be coming from the pipes that the water is flowing down from.. durso pipe will solve the problem??? any other ways?? ===> Yes durso should help. I used to cover partially the opening of the pipe in the overflow compartment. It does help tremendously. Just make sure you are not overdoing it and causing insufficient water to enter the pipe. 3) currently all the media in my canister filter can be placed in the first compartment?? so 2nd compartment is for "clean" water only? haha... ===> yup. 4) saw some of the pictures of sump with those white things called "egg crates" i think... where can i get those? is that useful??? currently i doubt i can use that cos the outflow of my water is splashing against the sump... if u can picture that using my 3rd picture above.. ===> you can connect a L shape connector so that the water is splashing downwards or connect a long pipe with many many holes drilled along it so that the water are flowing out downwards to the sump tank. Egg crates can get from the hardware shops. ( I saw the hardware shop near petmart carrying it.
  19. Here's an image of a durso pipe. Can DIY. http://www.dursostandpipes.com/ http://www.the3wisemen.net/durso.jpg
  20. yup using NSW and the argonite sand are new as well. Yes i doubt there will be any noticeable spike but will still be waiting prob a week before i add any livestock in.
  21. Oh they won already? Good thing I did not renew my SH contract. Yay can cancel next yr. SH is too high handed to my liking anyway. Time to move to Mio. My family are all liverpool fans. including my 3 year old. Hopefully the pricing will not be ridiculous.
  22. Sisreefer stays next to my block so journey is about 5 mins. Die offs will be minimum. livesand is the argonite black sand. hmmm maybe you are right but I am expecting just a couple hours cycling or days max. anyway i will be monitoring the water conditions closely each day to see how high the spikes are. We will know during that phase.
  23. OK we are really messed up now, we are talking about your tank in my thread and my tank in your thread.
  24. Gettting some rock from Sisreefer + live sand...... I do not think there will be any cycling period The other thing, I am still considering whether to leave the chiller outside the cabinet. Think it will have a longer lifespan that way not more clutter outside. Wife might complain..... Also I would prefer to put all the pumps/ skimmer in place first before filling in the water to minimize the possibility of wetting the floor. Slowly build up the reef lor, this is a lifetime hobby. Do it too fast, then nothing much to play around already. OOI just realize this your tank thread hor.... not mine ROFL... paiseh paiseh... Should capture your FTS from time to time then you can see the difference over time....
