  1. Can try hailea chillers. Not too noisy.
  2. How long have you been running the carbon? Give it sometime to work .. Better if the carbon is in a FR. If you just drop the bag of it into the sump.. It won't work well. Good carbon should not kill any livestock . Suggest you start controlling your po4 . I have live stock that is dying without reasons even in the second month of cycling.. Even though my nitrates was less than 5 ppm ...things only started to turn around when I started looking at po4 and use rowaphos to bring it down. Po4 even at 1 ppm is considered high...
  3. Did you put sand? Running a filter wool will clear most of it. Thereafter you can use carbon to polish the water crystal clear. Check your phosphate ... It may be killing your live stock .
  4. Ok enough teaser... Show us the package deal )
  5. Nice collection of zoas! Where did u get them ?
  6. Anyone knows what glue is that? Seems very easy to stick corals to rocks . Sick of using epoxy liao
  7. Anyone selling? Kindly pm me. Cheers
  8. Ats will not remove nitrates when initially started, as there will not be any algae growth on the first few weeks. Alot of ats implementation i see do not have good algae growth on them. Water changes will be your best bet.

    B> 2 x Chiller~

What exactly are you trying to swap here?
  10. Up for DD po4 test. Great resolution and ease of reading due to the color comparator system where tank water is used as baseline .
  11. Normal to get that type of readings for tap water. Our tap water do contain some level of nitrate. For planted tank, plants photosynthesis increases after water change.
  12. Bro, care to tell me more about mirror trap?
  13. According to many, they are reef safe.. But these guys are snatching food from coral tentacles or digging into their mouth for food.. Corals are healthy.
  14. Ok, after having 2 small skunk shrimp for 5 mths, they have grown and posing a threat to the corals I have. Seen them digging into the corals mouth for food and even their rumbling about is disturbing the corals in my small tank. Been trying to catch them with nets, mod water bottle traps with no avail. Any bros with success catching them care to share?
  15. Looks like pink zoas except the mouth is green ! Nice.
  16. It doesn't extract the algae. Instead its the growing hair algae on the screen will absorb nitrate and phosphate for food. You do not need another screen to change over. A new screen will take very long to grow algae. Mine took more than 3 weeks before algae starts growing (and I don't even run a skimmer then). Just scrape away the hair algae growth every week and the remaining bits of algae will "seed" the next round of algae growth. Remember to roughen up the screen with a hole saw brutally until it's really rough. My screen below...
  17. Saw mine with a full sized hack saw. Mine is only 11" long. So still managed to cut a messy slit and curved wider with a blade.

    Dosing

Actually I read somewhere that what to dose depends on what is depleting. So I feel that should measure stuff like Kh, Ca or mag and try to figure what is depleting and dose. For me, I have a depleting Kh, so decided to dose Kh in the top off water via a dosing pump.

    Dosing

Want to know too. Now have plans to get a single channel dosing elevated Kh water that will act as Kh replenishment and top off water.
  20. Screen can get from artfriend. Also, use a hole saw to roughen up the surface before use. Ask for plastic canvas; the type used for cross-stitching. With regards to screen size, wAter flow, lighting .. Can visit Santa monica's forum www.algeascrubber.net Info at FAQ
  21. Anything that has electricity going through it... Better don't risk it and buy at least some reputable brand stuff.
