  1. i have a red one too and i noticed that it's always like that, it tends to droop whn the lights are on and then "Marikita" when lights are off. they do not require much light and generally are found in deeper waters at reef slopes how'bout givin it ######? just kiddin
  2. Awesome... this is nearly an identical replica of what i've seen on reef crest and slopes during diving. oh i nearly forgot you're a diver too jsut askin, is your tank placed at your car porch morgan?
  3. where is jln besar located?
  4. thanks people... thanks
  5. I wanna make drip bottles for dripiin kalk and reef carbonate. can anyone tell me where to get the flow valve or whatever pointed thing? thanks.
  6. Never collect sand or water from the beach cuz you risk introducing Vibryo virus into your tank plus host of other pathogens and pollutants. beach/shore line area is where all the pollution from mainland is concentrated, plus other dirty stuffs washed up there. it is advisable to collect your sand from deeper waters.
  7. oh yes terryansimon, believe it or not, no doubt these crabs are opportunist who nib at fishes half dead. but they also prey on fishes that likes to rest on rocks or acro branches, especially when the fish is stationary and the crabs will pounce on em. i had the same problem as Kee, i witnessed my BT getting nipped by the crabs when it was resting in my acro. i had to put my hand in before the crab is willing to let go of the BT's tail fin. so im gonna kill the two acro crabs first.
  8. i believe they hitchhike from my rocks too, but the crab population boom is only recent. more porous holes appeared from my rocks lately. and some of them are really big and hairy. thanks for the advice anyway guys, i plan to use "Finger of Death" and coke bottle trap together. if i can catch them successfully, here's what i'm gonna do: 1) boil them in hot water till they turn red and then feed to my dogs. 2) crush them and feed the remains to my fishes. 3)slowly torture em by plucking out their claws and legs one by one any other suggestions?
  9. it's horrible, they multiplied like ants in such short order. i noticed alot more holes these days in my rocks, i think these monsters bored them. is baited trap the best way to remove them? any other better methods? i just lost two little fish to the crabs.
  10. but if the solution color turns deep red, it's still not that good isn't it? the maximum reading is 100mg/l on the chart where the solution is deep red, how do i tell if my reading exceeds 100mg/l? does the solution colour goes even deeper in red?
  11. Hi bro juan rahmat, you a malaysian too? which part?

  14. i think marine snow is pretty good, i'm currently using it now. liquifry marine is kinda stinky and care must be taken not to overdose it. DT makes stuffs grow in your tank? what kinda stuffs?
  15. no doubt bioballs/wetdryfilter are nitrate factories due to over efficiency in coverting ammonia and nitrates. after a period of usage, ammonia and nitrite readings usually maintain at zero, however nitrate readings will frequently hit the high-end unless given frequent water changes. at this point, one should remove the bio-balls, but only a small amount at a time so as to allow bacteria to repopulate and not upset ammonia/nitrite conversion capability. after removing all the bio-ball stuffs, nitrate should decrease.
  16. i need a T5 atinic blue for my 3 footer. where is Edmund's shop located?

  19. i've seen numerous little pods goin in and out of the DSB in my sump. i have a skimmer running in the same compartment as the DSB and the powerhead to the skimmer is right above the sand. question is will the protein skimmer kill the pods population? cuz i think i read somewhere that skimmer can destroy all sorts of plankton. should i relocate the skimmer?

  21. AT, you mean salt spray as in tank water splashing out due to power head and stuffs? has anyone have spoilt furniture due to reef tank in room so far?
  22. logically it should'nt be much of a problem since i'm using chiller not cooling fan right? but i think i'm gonna have problems convincing her
  23. for those using MH without tank hood, ever worried about long term damage to household appliances in the room due to saltwater evaporation? is is really that bad anyway? my mum is worried sick about it and is determined to stop me from setting up a new tank when our new house comes. i told her to forget it as i'm equally determined to install one.
