  4. Pondfisher, I suggest you contact Aquamart (Tel. 6741-2022) who are the sole distributor for the Aquamedic brand. They installed my 1000 denitrator and I'm sure they will be able to advise you on your problem.
  5. Rav, B4 I upgraded to my Aqua EV400 a few mths back, I had 2x250L Sanders side by side. Both units skimmed but one always did better than the other ... cld be due to the configuration, don't know, as it was installed by the original supplier.
  6. I am very interested to know the answer to this question. Can any gurus comment on Silverfish's question.
  7. Hey gal, Where did you buy the gloves from? Are they kinda disposal ones? ... 10 sets in 1 packing ...
  8. Cal, I want .... I'll give you your asking price if you deliver to my house ... can?
  9. You can order the AZ-N03 enzyemes online through our sponsor, eAquaNature. I am currently using it, underdosing ... just to be cautious but seeing a 10-20ppm N03 reduction every week. I am in my 3rd week of the treatment. In the meantime, hv installed a denitrator to permanently take care of the N03 problem for the long run.
  10. Hi, I'm interested in the following .. can reserve for me please: - Reefez calcium plus and alkalinity (brand new) for $20.00 - 1 goniopora selling at $12 each Pls. PM me when/where to pick up.
  11. Ya, Roidon/AP, RowaPhos is great. I got my P04 levels down from 0.5mg/L (critical level - ) to 0 in 2 weeks using about 1kg. Its been 6weeks and will do another test soon to see if it needs replacement. Roidon and I were the only 2 reefers who got the 5kg packing. Roidon was lightning fast to grab the 2nd one while the 1st was reserved for me. I had bugged Edmund to start bringing the bigger packing for some reefers who like/need to buy in bulk to save costs. I am sure he will bring in more in the next few months. I'm now working on getting in good marine salt in bigger packing, ie. >150gal.
  12. Just sharing ..... Just bought a water distiller (Novita NW200) at CK Tang .. the sale is on until the 24th March ... selling at $198 discounted from $399 .. for those interested in using distilled water for testing or for their FW topup units .. cheaper in long run than buying pet bottles. Distillate capacity is 1.3L/hr, comes with 4 units carbon filtration. You can buy extra units at CKT for $8. Check it out if interested.
  13. Joe, My reef system has been running for 14 months. No DSB, its a trickle-filter bare glass bottom system. I put a half inch layer of coral sand just for aesthetic purposes. After going through the list of methods to reduce N03, its currently at 30mg/L, down from 70mg/L a couple of months ago. I have just had a denitrator installed which i guess will take about 2 weeks to kick in as the bacteria builds up and take over from the AZ-N03 enzyme program. Not ready to showcase my tank yet ... will do when all parameters are as it should be, hopefully in a couple of months. So ... if it is OK with you, can I wait a couple of weeks b4 I get the CB from you? .. by then would have weaned my tank from the AZ-N03 enzymes ...
  14. Yeah, I knew that .. I do have 1 red worm but it usually withdraws into its tube when anything gets too close .. so do you think I should take the risk and get it ... or not? Is that anything else I should be aware of? BTW, I am 2 weeks into AZ-N03 treatment to bring down nitrate levels. Will it be a problem with introducing LS now or should I wait? I have a 7-footer mixed tank (w/ brains, softies, fans, etc) with 16 juvenile fish + 6 cleaner shrimps. Appreciate your advice.
  15. Joe, I maybe interested in taking the Copperband off you. Just a few questions please b4 I do. - How long have you had it ... what is it feeding on ... and .. has it at any time being peckish with your corals? Thanks.
  16. If you didn't know already, eAquaNature also sells them online.
  17. Kopi, I also use the Aqumedi a test kit to determine carbonate hardness. 8 drops into 5ml. of aquarium water and the solution turn yellow means your carbonate hardness is about 8 dKh. ie. each drop b4 and when it changes from blue to yellow is supposed to mean 1 dKH. You should not let your carbonate hardness fall below 9dKH but not more than 14dKh. Hope this helps.
  18. I switch off my filter pump and protein skimmer for about an hour when I see the water is absolutely clear again and that all of the food is no longer visible. I leave the circulatory pumps on so that most of the food is not left to settle anywhere at the bottom.
  19. Fellow Reefers, I have a rather interesting thing happening to my tank ever since I began use of the AZ-N03 enzyme treatment on Monday. pH levels started to drop from the usual 8.3 to the high 7s. Overall alkalinity levels hover around 3mg/L and my last check, the calcium level registered 275mg/L. It had been constant around 400mg/L the last few months. To counteract the low pH and calcium levels, I have been dousing Seachem Reef Builder, Buffer & Calcium Advantage on alternate days, but keeping a careful watch by testing and making sure that nothing is overdosed. I am at wits end cos I can't figure out why the pH has suddenly become so unstable. The funny thing is pH surges (to around 8.6) when I switch off the filter pump &/or protein skimmer each day for about an hour when I feed DT or zooplankton). Over the period of 6-12 hours, the pH slowly dips to the high 7s again. This has been happening for the last week! I had a couple of LS casualties b4 the start of the AZ-N03 project. Can anyone enlighten me what could be causing these pH spikes and dips? There seem to be a direct connection between it and the use or non-use of the filter pump & protein skimmer. Also, I have 4 aeration lines put in temporarily to assist oxygenation of the water while undergoing the denitrating treatment. Any advice to help understand this situation is appreciated.
  20. xx_boy08, You ask me to PM you, I did 2 days ago but still not received reply where exactly in Tampines you live, to view. I am interested in the orange button polyps. Thanks
  21. PMed you, interested in the orange polyp coral.
  22. Why don't you buy over secondhand from Benz who is giving up the hobby. I think it is only a few months old.
  23. My method is a bit like what chrislwp does. I thaw out 2 cubes mysis & 1 brime shrimp in a little distilled water, then it is put through a fine strainer. The water thrown away is always a little brown which shows the phosphate and other unwanted nutrients. I then pad the bottom of the strainer with tissue to get rid of most traces of moisture. DT is then added to the thawed out mysis and BS and target squirted to the tank inhabitants. I do this 3x a week.
  24. Kenji80, I am curious, since I used Aquatech... b4, what is the significance of your question?
