  1. Geez I tot Out-sump model is much more efficient than In-sump model, and the volume rating for APF600 is higher than H&S 150-F2001... In this case changing to a beckett seems to be a more appropriate "Upgrade"
  2. Anyone tried using gravity feed to run this type of skimmer? Meaning connecting the outlet of the overflow directly to feed the skimmer without using a feeding pump. Wondering if it is feasible to do so... Deciding on whether to upgrade to a Deltec APF600 or a Beckett skimmer... currently using a H&S 850L In-sump model

  13. Hey Mr COOl, dun think u need a 1/2 HP chiller for 2 ft tank leh... unless u upgrading to larger tank later maybe 1/4 HP enough, wun burnt a big hole in ur pocket
  14. Dun think will have any problem if u put back the sand after washing... BTW wat filtration method r u using? Seems to me u r using a canister filter + Sander air stone driven PS. Perhaps ur skimmer is not good enough for the capacity of ur tank. I dun think i can see any snails in ur tank leh... try getting some turbo snails ($1 each onli) plus a black colour sea cucumber... they will help u keep ur sand clean
  15. Hi dr evil, Last time i had this brown hairy algae bloom on the surface of the sand too, Sam from Sealife advised me to siphon out the top layer of the sand and wash them in freshwater. This method works ... meanwhile u might want to monitor the nitrate n phospate level in ur tank, algae bloom is usually caused by high nitrate level.
