  2. nope. for dosing as supplement not coral dip.
  3. he's on a budget also. maybe u can go view his chiller.
  4. just go goggle or seachem.com to find lor.think u can buy at most reef shop. seachem coral dip, lugol's solution and other brand's iodine all can use.. C328, ah beng, Marinelife, Jireh...blah blah blah... cheers.
  5. iodide is a dosing supplement for shrimp and corals. it is a more safe state for inverts and tank.not for coral dips. iodine is for coral dips and can also be use as supplement but with caution. lugol's solution is actually iodine and can be used for coral dip and supplement too. seachem also have coral dip solution which is also iodine.that one i not sure if can use for supplement also. where to get ? alot of place sell them. try to get the lugol's solution or seachem one. cheers.
  6. all factors that contribute to zoas not opening, it's becos of these factors: -Salinity -pH and kH -Temperature All these factors can affect ur zoas so take note to have them at optimum level. but normally if they are just not opening up, it is either disease or water quality. unless u see a hole or missing zoas, then most likely pest eating them up or walking over them. (my MI eats my eagle eye zoas... ) if everything is good, give some iodine(iodide), strontium and trace elements to help them. then wait for a week to see if any changes. And if they still doesn't open after all the try...the rest is up to the determination of ur zoas and ur own husbandry. u can try putting them at different places but one location for at least a week. or else keep shifting them also shift them. until u give up...maybe one day they will open after they have get over with all the stress. or else the enormous amount of stress have already kill it and it is on its way to hades.
  7. hahah...very good example of bad husbandry. anyway, for zoas... Best to dip all corals for pest and disease. I did that for all my fishes and corals. Fishes aside...corals use iodine or lugol's solution. and dun mix up iodine with iodide. Do not add iodine into main tank at high quantity cos it will kill ur inverts. and try not to use the freshwater method. tell u the reason later. Instead, first when u get a new specimen. add it ur tank water slowly to acclimate it first. after that then u add in iodine and just a drop of it will do. If too much, u will only kill it in the end. The concentration is very high. Dun TRY, becos I kill my prata doing that before. If u try the freshwater method or add in alot of iodine, it will only stress it. and that explains why ur zoas still wun open up even after that. and DO that for only 5MINs. Using freshwater is to create a osmotic difference so that the pest will get killed. But CORALS are of the similar osmotic pressure as the pests or inverts around, so even if u kill the pest, u are also stressing the corals themselves. Especially if it's LPS. Zoas alike are also sensitive. This method can still be attempted by as the last resort. If u really gonna do that, made sure the pH of the freshwater is the same as ur tank. and made sure u decholrine the water. OR else tthe corals will face pH stress, Osmotic stress and chlorine stress all together. HOW STRESS.. My mum previously took my sun corals for a bath secretly without me knowing and kill it in her hands.

  10. cool...what's the selling point here ? what is this ELOS ? anyway, such loving tank but the guys all are not lookin at the tanks but chatting way...-_-how great.
  11. or u can try the dolphin brand i mentioned...someone selling http://www.sgreefclub.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=70719
  12. haha..if u see my setup..for my tank size, it's very budget already. no big skimmer which cost few thousands, or any CR... using bailing method which is auto dripping system. how to save up ? u must know at long term, nv buy things on impulse. before u buy fishes or corals, get ur water quality good first. that's what i do. i spend a lot of time gathering all the equipment from ppl who are decomming. how to spend well ? u need to know the market price. Teco chiller is good but mine is second hand one, bought from a freshwater guy. the price original will be 1000+ but i buy at one third of the price. and for my system, only using second-hand seio powerhand. the rest are from china or taiwan one. haha.u need to know what u need and why u need then u can do well in this hobby. like why u need powerhead and there are so many brands out there and why this particular brand. blah blah blah...sometimes u can get killer price here online also. cheers.
  13. they are filter feeder...u need to provide them with either plankton, rotifers or x-nature food or ur own blend. temperature around 27 or lower...they need strong current. and dun get the blue hard sponge, it's poisonous when it died. I have one, buy it becos the stone's hitchhiker is some goniopora or alveopora...mini polpys one. dun know if can take photo of it or not. hahah. will try.
  14. hahaha...thanks. it doesn't bite. a dwarf hamster. other types of hamster will bite. but this robo type doesn't bite. they are very shy. u can't really hold them cos they will keep struggling.
  15. haha..okay. no wonder it died. next time try to get a pellet feeding one. or at least a frozen food feeding one. they dun support u ar ? haha...come on. one day the boy will need to grow into a man work for one urself slowly. get a cheap one and not too high wattage. urs is a small tank so electricity-wise is still not that demanding compare to big tanks. actually ice probe by dolphin brand(if i remember correctly), is not bad and doesn't cost that much. the price of one made-in-china mp3 player. i sure nowadays the students can afford one china brand mp3 player. cos another reefer friend of mine also using that. school holiday go pick up some simple part-time job can fetch u that money. sec 3 already...use the tank as a way to build ur own independance lor.haha perseverance will pave the way. in this society, nowadays it's abt how u work ur way out to get things done in the ur own way. becos in the end it's up to u... u can give up the idea on chiller and use fan but ended up been so paranoid and worried abt ur livestock.(btw, to have ur clam losing it's foot, is not a good indication.it could bemore likely be stress.) or get a chiller and let things play its part naturally. if me, i will get a chiller becos i dun wanna keep topping up water everyday...like that how to study ??? hahaha tell that to ur parents. ops...hehehe..
  16. goodness...u have money to buy all the good food(life spectrum, plankton...), all the fishes and corals...and dun have MONEY to BUY CHILLER ??? just look at it....all the money u spent on fishes and corals equals ? and all the money u lost on bleach corals and dead fishes ? in a long run, u will be spending loads and loads of money and ur livestock are surviving. a drill is simple...ask around to borrow one or ask ur friends to help u with it. by hook or by crook, save enough money for one. The money and time to fix one chiller up will compensate for all the time and money u taken to keep restocking, all the time for u being paranoid and stress, all the sSLEEPLESS nights and all the QUESTIONS which runs along with it. with fan, u need to worry alot alot abt evaporation rate and it is crazy cos long long time ago, i did that too. next is ur 28degree is okay but that "OKAY" is at the upper end of risk..high temperature will encourage algae growth too. And how come ur regal tang died ? is it feeding ? regal tang even that they do get ich frequently, if u give them good food to build up their immune system, they are really hardy fishes. once they are eating, feed them life spectrum everyday at first to build their immune and then feed them with all the other food. once they are feeding crazily, everything will be fine. anyway if u are still overstocking, do not get any wrasse, because they are very sensitive to phosphate.
  17. hahah...ya. looks like chewing gum...it used to glue the two rocks together then now it slowly snap apart like gums.haha. my room is kinda air-con too..but only half of the day. i have a mini fan for marine, maybe if i find it, can try. but i scared cannot stand the stench. She is very fast..last time we can't hold it in our hand but now getting better. keep trying to tame it. i think robo is the most beautiful hamster among the dwarf hamster...cos the others look like mouse or rat, really cannot stand it.hahahha..
  18. sponge growing from one rock to another. try to take some FTS but night time corals all closed so take again tomorrow. and this is my own hamster.
  19. trigger...haha...i scared it will eat up my shrimps...:S maybe i try to catch them all up first or get an eel.anyway, i can't confirm the crab yet cos it might be my acro crab. i used to have on acro crab but it disappear from the acro and the crab i saw is non-hairy. claws don't look big. just pray hard or maybe try catching it again using "GLASS TRAP" instead. anyway, for twin spot, u definitely need mature sandbed. proper acclimation and fine sand. The twinspot was healthy all along..it died becos of the trap if not will be still surviving. :S i find that rainfordi is the harder one instead of twinspot becos it doesn't feed. if you ask what i feed specially. it will be X-nature food. up to now, those small fishes i kept can survive on that. pipefish, shrimpfish...gobies...even thou i don't see them eating in action(maybe becos of the small mouth), but they are attracted to the food. small mouth very hard to see them eating. if u find their food too expensive, then u can try to blend a few seafood, together to make ur own. it will help in providing food to all the fishes, filter feeder and organisms inside I managed to keep sponges alive and growing in the tank. if u have plankton and rotifers to add inside will be even better. maybe i take a few sponge pictures tomorrow. some sponge grow from one rock to another like glue.
  20. Twin spot goby and my mini-cardinal died today...both were trap in my diy crab trap...heartpain.becos inside the trap, dun have enough holes for air circulation. In the end didn't catch any crab but kill two fishes....sobsob. R.I.P
  21. why don't u try to create some bridge using ur liverocks instead of all stack together ? have many structures in it will look nicer. just a suggestion. cheers.
