  3. With the current set up I am still thinking shall I add in more live rocks for this 4 ft tank???
  4. Oh I see...hey learn something new...thanks
  5. Well a pic speaks a thousand words. This is the new set up after I re-cycle the whole tank. Water is almost up to the brim of the tank. Add in one fan as I realise my tank water is kind of hot as about 30 to 31 degrees. Now with the fan is around 27 to 28 degrees.
  6. Err..the LR I just took out and rinse with water then put back in the tank and then start cycling process. I did not scrub anything leh. Err.clown fish? Then got to have anemones right?I always have the thought clown fish die die must goes with anemones.
  7. Hmm..slowly loh. See how things goes. No idea my idea tank of lionfish able to come true or not. Need to do more research then come and decide. Still not able to find out what went wrong with the water???
  8. Thanks bro. I read the 'show' in the old thread and know what happen. Thanks again for the warning. Well my headcount did not go down and will not go up for the next few months. I have to wait and see. Who knows maybe next week I will post here I will total give up on marine fish and go back to old freshwater. I am yet to decide to give up or not. I don't to murder more fishes. Hee hee hee...
  9. Apology accept. Shake hand and friend firend again liao. Bro at least u had experience before wor...I don't think much will go wrong for your new set up.
  10. First top tray are sponge and filter wool, next lower tray is bio home and ceramic rings. The lowest bottom layer is active carbon which is meant for saltwater useage. (forgot which brand liao)(For the bigger canister) The smaller canister is top try filter wool and bottom try is coral chips. Only 2 tray as it is a small canister to help in the circulation of the tank and filteration.
  11. Thanks for all the advise. Not the tank wil be put on either a stand still or somethign will be done. Not yet decide, kind of sad from the last crashed.
  12. Tank started 2 weeks back to cycle. Test done is PH so far is maintain at 8 to 8.5. Kh is about 10, Nitrite is nil and Ammonia is nil. Had been doing the test every 3 days for the past 2 weeks. All test results had been the same. The only thing is I need to get a Nitrate test kit. Well only ask around if there is any sight of such hardy fish and consider to get them. I think I don't deserve to be suan like that right? Better I ask than I straight away go and buy and put in the tank. I think the purpose of looking into forum is ask and learn from here right? Bro jyoon, Yes it wil be my dream tank to have a big tank full of lionfish. But I am not so foolish as to go and get 25 lionfish straight away and dump into my tank? As I did declare I am a newbie here there isn't a need to make fun of my nick and to suggest to get 25 lionfish and test my tank water? Yes I might sound like to spitfire here, but had u thought of how was it like when u were a newbie and ask around and looking for info how to get a tank kick off and stabalised and end up got suan??? I think pls be it an expert in this hobby or a newbie, I think each and all of us as a fellow forum user should be respected.
  13. I am looking for the below fish to test the water in my tank before I stock up livestock. Anyone came across these 3 fish kindly let me know which LFS has stock. Flame Hawkfish Yellowtail Damselfish Blue/Green Reef Chromis Hope I can get one or two fish by this coming weekend to test the tank.
  14. Is this one of the hardy fish to test out the tank water parameters for livestock?
  15. Thanks bro, do feel free to drop more suggestions. As I am still re cycling my tank again I am looking at more live rocks. I just went to reborn and get a few more pieces. Also went to get some normal tube worm. Another friend will come over my place to help me re-structure the live rocks again as more rocks will add in. I will keep update here.
  16. The very potiential fishes I plan to have in time to come when I become 'old bird' will be lionfish, scripion fish, butterfly and frogfish. I had a camo scirpion but it die on me when the water in my tank went haywire. Or should I say I stock up too fast? Kind of werid for a gal to like this kind of fish. It might look 'ugly' to normal people but I myself feel due to their 'ungliness' they are very special and I am more keen to hope to have them and keep them alive in time to come. As for not..sigh, reach home seeing an empty tank wih filter running and only live ock inside.
  17. Thanks, yes I know one sting will make me end up in the A & E department. That's why I purposely went to get a pair of long shopsticks which mother usually use it to fry food. But of course I buy new ones and use it only for my tanks. I will use it to hold the cube of mysis shrimp and feed my panther grouper and demsel. The lionfish normally I will give feeder mollies or shirmp once in a blue moon. Oh I see...there are other sis here...
  18. Had long been wanted to keep a lionfish since the first time I saw a lionfish in a display tank in Changi Airport T1 when I was a kid. Last time the arrival hall got one marine fish tank with one quiet a big lionfish swimming in the tank. Once I have a chance to be at T1 I sure glue to the ground in front of the tank to stare at the lionfish. Just simply fasinated with the fins flare open and swimming in slow motion gracefully. Hee hee....
  19. Thanks bro underwater. Btw I am a sis. hee hee..... seldom will come across a gal like to keep fish right?
  20. Well my goal tank is a very simple tank. Just mainly live rocks with lionfish. That's all. But after reading here I realise lionfish will create lots of bioload due to its diet. But I am still open to other fish. Maybe groupers with 1 or 2 lionfish and that's it. The other love which is butterfly, it seems I have to give up as advise they are mroe senstive. I would rather not buy the fish and kill it due to my sturboness and ignortant. But just let the fish stay in the shop, maybe it will have a longer lifespan with a knowledgable owner.
  21. Well I am using this kind of glass hydrometer and I am beginning to doubt this meter liao. Any recommendation on what other kind of hydrometer to buy? Well I drain all the water and wash the LR and whtever is inside again. fill up with dissolved salt and water into the tank and on the canister system and let it run. Well another month of waiting to let water stabalish before livestock goes in. Also better I can try to look for fishes good for beginner and decide what to get.
  22. Well bro no need to remove. All die on me overnight as water got problems. Left my shifting starfish, panther grouper and the demsel. Now temp housing in my friend's marine tank. In the mean time I drain out all the water, rinse the live rock and re arrange everything again and start the whole cycling process. I shall not give up even if the first time is wrong. Now I need advise from the seniors here what are the fishes which is better for beginner. I know I should read up in the website but are there any recommended website to look through? I went to yahoo and search but not much help from there. Thanks
  23. Just one piece of info to reefers here. There is a new shop selling quiet a big range of soft corals and anemones at Clementi Blk 328. Is between C 328 and Polyart.
