ID Needed

Need help to identify this thingy.

Bought from Irene at Pasir Ris. She called it christmas tree. True? Any more details on this. Thanks in advance.

Picture is when i first got it. it's now growing very well.

Black sun coral, Tubastraea micrantha

Same requirements as normal sun coral. Doesn't use light but needs direct feeding.

Was reading that the black sun coral is even more difficult than the orange ones.

For sun corals, they are not photosynthetic. They need to be fed regularly.

Tend to open up at night when lights are out. Try blowing brine shrimp juice across the cups to make them open up.

Not near the lights, definitely under shade. If any algae grow on them, they're gone!

Preferrably place them near moderate water current if u want to see the polyps open like the yellow or orange ones. Currents bring them food!

These branching ones r very fragile, so handle with care.

If you mean the tentacle-ly coral in the middle it is a Euphyllia glabrescens.

Hydnophora spp. Give it lots of light, calcium and moderate flow. Grows green and well.
