about clams ..

if a clam is deprived of good lightings for about 3 - 4 weeks what will happen to it ...

ive seen blue turn to brown but still alive ... can it still be salvaged and put under proper lightings will the blue colour come back?

how do we identify sick or dying clams ...

are the still in good health if the mantle still opens but colour have faded or turn darker ...

Hopefully, it will recover if it didn't completely expel its zooxanthellea to photosynthesize. Once its stored energy is gone... it'll go. Some clams will take some time to die once this happens.

When they start gaping. And the whole mantle is shrunken back inside the shell.

The clam will also be unresponsive to movement above it and it won't show the reflex action of shutting its shell as a protective measure.

No.... gaping means the that the siphon hole is very very enlarged... and the tissue is stretched so tight, it looks like it's gonna tear.

The mantle would usually be receded.
