They are one of the few invverts that feed on bubble algae. However i did read that there is a good chance that they will prefer other food.. Ie coral..

my smaller emerald crab died and my nassarius snails wanted to feast on it but failed due to its shell.

my flower anaemone hates the crab and closes up like a button whenever it comes near. amusing to watch. cos my anaemone looks so grouchy n sulky.

What you see previously might be just the exoskeleton molted by the emerald crab.... !
