SRC Member [V]tEc Posted March 2, 2014 SRC Member Share Posted March 2, 2014 Tangs need lots of algae in their diet. Try feeding TDO or new ERA algae pellet. If possible feed with nori daily. If u feed with the above, confirm your yellow tang over weight.
blusafe
Meaty marine protein, algae pellets, nori seaweed, etc. How long have you been feeding the tang? Took me about 3 weeks before it got plump feeding 2-3 times a day. Feed until they it no longer eats. Watch your water quality, as pollution will stunt growth. SRC Member Shamsul Posted March 6, 2014 SRC Member Share Posted March 6, 2014 I always keep Red Bamboo Algae in my tank, my tanks love it, within 1 week the entire bunch will be eaten....All fat fat.... Also when the fishes are new and when they are not pellet trained, they will feed on this algae. I put the entire bunch of Red Bamboo inside my tank. But you might need to face the following problems... 1. Tangs bite this algae and don't eat 100%, there are small bits and bits of this algae pieces getting collected in my sump. I bought some disposable filter bags at Daiso, around 60 bags for $2, every day or every alternate day i change and throw these bags, so my main dry filter is not clogged or dirty. 2. When buying these Red Bamboo from the LFS there are many small critters in it, i have seen some star fish and small crabs and some other insects. I have a small QT for this red bamboo algae which i keep i low salinity, when ever i buy the new algae, the new one will go to the QT and old ones from the QT will be moved to my sump and then finally to my fishes.... I am not sure that how this algae is good in nutrition export.
