Pls help to ID this coral

Can this be green buttons? From the picture, where is there so much of white sponge looking things growing all over the coral? Is the whitish growth healthy, good or very bad and damaging?

Itis a Zoanthus sp (button coral) soft coral.

Not sponge...

careful when handling it ..

SOme reefers dog died when it drank some water housing the coral..

Yah confirmed it is Zoanthus. Can't see clearly what are the white stuffs, could it be it is bleaching?

Anyway, for Zoanthus, they have to slowly acclimatize to your tank (water Temp, & lightings) so try not to move it around often or it will cause them to bleach. Once they are acclimatize, they are pretty hardy.

What woonming said is very true, I know of a reefer in US ended up in the hospital when he absent mindedly rub his eyes after cutting up some zoanthus.

Don't handle them with open wounds and best to use gloves of some sort.Better be safe than sorry.
