mushroom not opening.

just wish to ask for your opinion. why does my mushroom not opening? is it due to water parameters? or lighting? pls advise.

Nitrate- 0mg/l

Ph- 8.5

nitrite- 0mg/l

ammonia- 0mg/l

salinity- 1.028

temp- 27degC

calcium- 450ppm.

I tot over here recommend at 1.021?!..

I keep mushys and Yumas at 1.021..

I find they open to good lightings.. PL should be enough. I alternate my PL and MH lights.. They open everytime I turn on the lights..

My Yumas will open if thier light intentsity are satisfied.

actually mushys are not easy to keep.. infact, I recommend people to keep yumas then mushys.. Mushys then to change colours or bleach under intense light. Maybe can try using blue lights..

at least for Yumas, they can still feed on plankton food if there is not enough lights.. mushys depend solely on lights and some species do not like strong lights.

You using FL? .. whats you tank's depth? Where you place your mushys? .. You might want to change to a higher watt PL light instead..

some of it at the bottom and most of it near to water surface

If can afford a MH, get one.. get those 150w kind.. just fan will do. I too use MH with a fan and my temp maintains at 27. Some more now DIY or clipon kind MH fairly priced .
