SRC Member mi_edmund Posted March 30, 2015 SRC Member Share Posted March 30, 2015 My coral brain colour since to be bleach for red to transparent pink. Is it due to strong lighting? Quote Thank & Best Regards Edmund Zhang
SRC Supporter SubzeroLT Posted March 30, 2015 SRC Supporter Share Posted March 30, 2015 Yes. Likely due to strong light. Place in in low light area like shaded or far corners of the tank. Hopefully it'll recover in several weeks/months. SRC Member mi_edmund Posted March 30, 2015 Author SRC Member Share Posted March 30, 2015 If the flesh are exposed. will it still recover? Quote Thank & Best Regards Edmund Zhang
SRC Supporter SubzeroLT Posted March 31, 2015 SRC Supporter Share Posted March 31, 2015 If you can see through the flesh, it means the zooxanthellae has been expelled - hence translucent. If there is still hope if there is still some color -> some zooxanthellae present. Put in low light areas & feed it more regularly (once every few days) since its not able to get much nutrition from the symbiotic zooxanthellae. There is a chance the zooxanthellae will multiply & regain color. Personally, my first open brain bleached badly (almost white + loss of flesh). Going through the above 'treatment' the past 4 months. Its ~80% recovered. Quote Facebook : https://www.facebook.com/mysliceofnature/

Is there light in your sump? I am thinking of doing that since I have a situation similar to you.
