timmy
Its been a while , almost 5 years after decor of this small beauty, lying in the store room waiting faithfully to reveal its former glory. Took it out and cycle the tank in my office with some left over live rocks about 1KG of them , some live sand , some left over bioballs and filter media. Using my favourite Prodibio Reef for nano tank to cycle the tank for the past three months and could not decide what to put in , 12G real estate is extremely limited. Finally decided to go small on corals and fishes and in June 2015 decided to start my stocking, ..... but overseas trip comes in and after 14 days of not attending to this old maid, the horrible happened ..... CYNO attack in FULL swing!!!! These CYNO changed the bare tank to a scene in horror movies.....so sad.......but luckily I have some super cleaner left at home Super cleaner to the rescue After using the Chemiclean according to its instructions, this is is what happened after 4 days.... Almost 90% of the CYNO are gone, but due to the decomposition go the CYNO, nutrients are high and having cloudy water.....hope are high that by this week , I am able to introduce some first batch inhabitants.....so please stay tune and please give me some ideas and advise on what to put in this small beauty and hope to get it to flourish.... Currently I am waiting to some items to arrive and I am planning 1) to Upgrade to lights DIY to Truelumen 2) Using only Prodibio to maintain the tank with fishes and coral 3) to install a nano skimmer 4) Hmmmmm.....let see what else don't the road Hope you contribute and enjoy
timmy
Day 5 after using Chemiclean to reduce and hopefully eliminate CYNO Attack, the results was fantastic Still some large crumbs of CYNO can de see wrapped in sand on the sea bed, hopefully these will be eliminated in a few days time. Almost all the CYNO are gone, water is clear again and now lots of hairy green algae, stay tune for my green algae battle

timmy
Unboxing the TUNZE CARE NANO real good quality product , very strong magnet and typical german engineering, very good stuff After attaching the TUNZE to the tank the first feeling is tight....very tight and very power scraper and the best is it will not catch any sand and scrape the glass like my old glass cleaner!!! woooohoooooo And found my old spot with algae ready to be scrapppppeeed..... And its TUNZE Time!!!!!! Most of the unsightly algae which my old cleaner cannot take care are taken care by the TUNZE CARE NANO and it works well round the rounded glass corners And it clean about 2cm below the sand bed. After working it parks neatly in a dark corner waiting to be activated again. My next best investment is the innovative swirl, so call ware maker, after installing for more than a month the swirl is still swirling and producing wave, I have used other brands, and the swirl will fall off the rubber fitting will be harden after a month or so and will fall off and this innovative swirl is still sucked and swirling..... well done!!! loved it, not return pump is 900L/H , though of upgrading to 1200L/H for more swirling power...... stay tuned Unfortunately, my 2007 old maid show signs of age, the corners are leaking!!!!!! and the best thing is both corners are leaking ...... no problem , waiting for my underwater magic to arrive and will see how to patch her up and get her up and running Stay tuned .... timmy
Dose my Kent Marine Nano Reef B this morning and the tank turned cloudy......
timmy
..... CONTINUE...... After dosing Kent Marine Nano B the watch turned cloudy as per usual, but the only usual happening is the cloudiness maintained for more than 15 minutes, usually when I dose Kent Marine Nano B , the cloudiness will disperse in 5 minutes..... Due to my impatient, I added Purple Up from Continuum , immediately the watch turned milky and usually it will clear up in 5-10 minutes, but this time ...... its doom time..... After more than 30 minutes, the milky watch started to turn cloudy and a thick layer of carbonate was formed on the glass, and rock ! I tried to use Tunze to scrap but not working .......sigh........ I was thinking is this the end of this cycle? Do I need to recycle the tank again ???? I was toying with the idea of cleaning with vinegar .....and today I bought an old school product to my office in my last struggle to get it fixed....... ....to be continued.....
