Live rock turned black during curing?

Hi guys,

got some live rock which smelled bad, so decided to cure it in a separate container.. Decided to try something new by adding some bacteria to 'speed' up the process. Next day, the rock was sitting in black water(oily scrum layer on top & man, it stank!).

I did a 100% water change & even gave the rock a scrub today with toothbrush, but the rock is still black.

No visible die off, no sponges, etc, the entire rock is just black, looked like it was dipped in ink...

Any of you guys experienced this before?

No pic leh.. But what I tried last night was remove it from the water & air dry it. This morn it's back to normal color!!

I have started soaking it in water again to see if it turns black again. Now 4 hrs already.. So far so good

it's damn weird, nothing I've ever seen before. Don't know whether the cause is the bacteria dose I added
