SRC Member Tanzy Posted February 14, 2003 SRC Member Share Posted February 14, 2003 Good luck! They grow like mad! Give them more light! I know that in some US tanks, they can grow to cover the top half of the rear glass under 400W MH. Quote Warning: Heavy handed moderator in operation. SRC Member mv3i Posted February 14, 2003 Author SRC Member Share Posted February 14, 2003 wah ..... you don't seem to recommend their growth ........ in that case ... can we control the growth .. like trimming ????
SRC Member Tanzy Posted February 14, 2003 SRC Member Share Posted February 14, 2003 These polyps are ok because they don't really affect other corals. Zoanthids and shrooms are bad! They can sting corals they touch, so I have to border the zoanthid rock I have with very aggressive corals that they will kill the zoanthids and prevent it spreading to other part of the rock. You can scrape and throw them away regularly or give to people. Obviously they wont grow as fast as algae but they are considered one of the fastest growers. SRC Member TTBoy Posted February 14, 2003 SRC Member Share Posted February 14, 2003 I have the green star polys growing aggressively. Will they sting other corals? Its already overtaking neighbouring rocks and thinking of how to control their growth.

robe
green star polyps are aggressive. My montipora has a bald patch underneath caused by the polyps touching the area. They also will encrust ur SPS if left alone.
SRC Member harlequin Posted February 14, 2003 SRC Member Share Posted February 14, 2003 If you want it to grow even faster, use Kent Marine Coral Accel with very good results.
SRC Member mv3i Posted February 14, 2003 Author SRC Member Share Posted February 14, 2003 wah , so many negative things on the polyps .... think i will leave it alone cos the are where it is growing is quite bare so .... can afford to let it grow till it covers part or thw whole rock ... and work from there ... thanks for the info.
