Protoreaster

Common Name : Chocolate Chip Star, African Sea Star.

Region : West Africa to Central Pacific

Description : Protoreaster nodosus is the common Chocolate Chip star found on sand and seagrass beds in the Indian Ocean to central pacific. Protoreaster Lincki is a stunningly colored sea star in gray and bright red.

Similar : Pentaceraster

Desirable / undesirable features: Ornamental. May be destructive to tridacnid clams or harmful to inverts. NOT REEF SAFE.

Food: Herbivourous. Carnivorous. Detritivore. Sponges and microorganisms, and live or dead mollusks, urchins, anemones, and algae. Feed chopped clam meat, squid.

Special considerations: Maintain in an aquarium with sand or gravel. Feed once per week. Not suitable for reef aquariums because they eat anemones sponges and clams.

Hardiness in captivity: Hardy. Life span - years.

wahahaha i like the colours on the starfish. so gian then bought it. if its really nt reef safe then i try put it in a sump loh.

henry told me that actually its nt reef safe. but some of his customers told him that thats allrite to keep in a reef tank. it didnt disturb any corals.

any guys try this type of star b4? can give comment ?

      Never buy them wet esp from LFS (If it's fellow hobbyist unless u trust the seller got nothing bad in his tank) N don't buy those mass manufactured branching ones for placing corals. Get from Skytrain the dried out ones. Sent from my M2012K11AG using Tapatalk
