manueljoseph
Hi guys, was wondering if distilled water is a good substitute for ro/di water? Feel like buying distilled water is more convenient for me. Sent from Singapore Reef Club mobile app
SRC Member saltyman Posted September 25, 2021 SRC Member Share Posted September 25, 2021 It’s the same but you will be paying more for buying bottle water in the long ran. I order di water from NTUC by 10 cartons and they delivered to my house. if your tank is big, rodi systems at home will be a better option. Steve Neo
Is using Seachem Prime removing toxic substances have similar effects as distilled water ?
Reefnewbie
I am using Life brand distilled water from NTUC to top daily evapouration since mine is a nano tank. Around 1 litre Much easier than mixing reef salt becos I understand salt mixed water cant keep for long.

Nope cos the water may have silicates and other stuff which may change the water parameters when you add salt. The tap water parameters is also not constant. The ions in the treated tap water may also react with your salt too. So best to use distilled water.

Steve Neo
I just tested Meadows Distilled Water with a TDS meter ... think different batches may have some issues ... I had two water changes and each time, 1 casualty ... which I could not point the finger to .. all water parameters are good .. so when I got the TDS meter that came with a RODI unit purchased over the weekend .. reads 200 .. Just be careful ... suppose should check before using ... FYI, only ...
