All tangs are prone to ich. However YT and PT are easy to keep compared to PBT. Introduce both tangs at the same time. You wont have problem. I have both in my tank and no fighting although i introduced both at different times.

But no gurantee.

i bought my yellow tang about 2 months back. it is down with ich but compared to my PBT (rip already) and blue tang, it's case was quite mild.

my YT is a curious and overly friendly fellow. It loves escorting new fish round the tank which added to their stress :erm: this busy body even share a cave for a few nights with my picasso trigger when the latter was introduced into my tank. guess mine is a good natured one. it is also my favourite.

It never bullied my baby blue tang which was one third its size when I put the baby BT into my tank. this baby is as big as the YT now. the trio (YT, BT and Picasso) are good friends :peace:

Actually all tang from the Zebrasoma family seems to be more hardy and lass prone to Ich. (YT, PT, Scopa, etc) ;)

From my experience even Hippo tang (paraacanthus hippatus) are aslo quite good at resisting Ich. ;)

But the Acanthus family is a different story all together. I am still battling this problem with my AT. PBT is also another commonly available tang that are considered ich magnet.

That's why most books reccommend Zebrasomas as a beginners tang and the acanthus family as tang suitable for intermediate or experts. :D

PT is fierce and territorial than other tangs. I bought my YT from Pasir Ris and it was doing well for a month. It died not because of disease or ich, but from an accident. Got stuck between rocks because it got fatter. :( When I got it out, it suffered injury and eventually died. Now I only have my sailfin tang alone.
