I always get 7.8 or lower when measured with salifert and hardly hit 8.0 no matter how I add the reef buffer.

Finally salifert used up so I tried tropic marin and another brand the result is 8.2.

Is salifert a bit out? do you encounter this?

I had encountered this problem before with Salifert's pH testkit long time ago in April 2003. At that time, I did a search on RC and found that this problem was mentioned there also. It seems certain batches have this problem.

To confirm, you need to post your batch number (can find it on the bottle) in RC's Salifert forum. You should be able to get a response pretty soon.
