How to solve?

That was the same question i ask other reefers a month back. Basically, to put it short its about the placement of the tunze. Some reefers suggested pointing the tunze against the rockscape to soften the powerful wave or point the tunze upwards.

The first occupant of the tank. And it came free with the rocks.

I have the same problem initially.. I have to place it all the way back of my tank blowing at a 45 degree.. The trick is to use your LR as diversion if you feel that your flow is too strong.(I place my rock until very high) I dont think you would such problem since your tank is 6 feet long. Its just how you place your tunze.

my five cents worth.

Hi zehuan,

Thanks for your advice. Looks like I have to play around with the angle a little.

Question is how do I place coral on that rock if the pump is blowing directly at it?

Any good solution?

Started to fire up the calcium reactor, Skimz CR1500 pwered with Ehiem 1250.

Salifert is not bad but if you have the extra cash, go for digital ones :P

Hi blueheaven,

Thanks for the input. Budget is a bit tight now.

What kind of digital ones are you talking about?

Care to show more details or pic?

You can get the Hanna phosphate meter for more accurate reading

Anthony Calfo recommended digital ones compared to titration type for better accuracy and ease of application B)

er.. I think that is the minus point of this method.. I also got try this method of placing a LR right infront of the tunze so as to "soften" the wave.

Bought this set of test kits recommended by the lfs.

Salifert is a better brand I agreed. In the beginning I would test for all the parameter but now adays I seldom test for PO4 and NO2. My biggest problem is NO3, all the diatoms in the tank quite sian..

I can see that you have ROWAphos. You can start using it early to control your PO4.

Hi zehuan,

I am using the Rowa in my FR.

Did you use FR? It might help with your diatoms.

ya, but by the time i put in the FR too late liao... diatoms bloom like dont know wat.. now NO3 like over 80mg/l

tommrrow going to buy nsw from lfs liao... not going to use tap water anymore.

zehuan :)

Hi Zehuan,

May be can try using DI water.

Tested my water.

SG = 10.24

PH = 8.3

dKH = 8.3

PO4 = <0.03

NO2 = 0

NO3 = 5

Ca = 400

Mg = 1035 This seems to be on the low side.

Tune my Skimmer level to 1in below the neck, but this morning collected large amount of skimmate (more than half size of the WC). Is this normal?

Looks too wet... gues you won't want to empty and clean your

waste collector everyday right? :nc:

IMO,

At 1" below the neck and you get such wet skimate, then it would be very difficult to adjust for dry skimmate.

May be there is something wrong somewhere.

May be your skimmer water level very eratics.

Best if you could post your skimmer pipping output to sump lay out

and the bubble foams at the the collection cup.

May be these pictures can explain more things.

Add a tee after the union and connect it to the pipe on the right

Trust me, it helps a lot!!!
