PinK StuFF in My skiMmer???

hello too all.....i wanna ask something.....i hav a skimmer(air pump driven)in my two feet tank but i notice tat the waste collected is pink colour u knoe lyk those cough syrup for kids from the doc....but nt tat thick...kind of lyk transparent pink.....anibodi cn help me wats tis pink stuff???...tanx

Do you have any pink color corals?

most probably is a coral. not too sure.

i have one purple carpet anemone, and initially my skimmate is a little purplish.

Maybe in your case is the same

after a few days should be ok

Did u purchase and add any new pink coloured soft corals lately, if yes, chances are the pink skimmate is the dye, tat is u bought a dyed coral.

Does the pink stuff stink? I bgt a pink colored soft coral last mth & for the first 2-3 weeks plenty of pinkish , smelly skimate... Its the dye lah....

Nope No pink coral.....im keeping Fish n LR oni aka FOWLR......well nt quite stink ah...but it do look kind of strange

i think it is some form of bacteria. I had those too in my beckett. smell like open sewer....

I have a similar skimmer and notice some pink residue some 2 months back. Mine is due to the fish food, I think. So I guess so long the water parameters and the water is clear. It doesn't matter. Fishes are doing well
