Very Very shy fish. need extreme target feeding!! I have one for 3months before it die when it's head got stuck in a empty shell?!?!!? (freak accident)

it is very stressful keeping this fish as the fish will choose a burrow a new hole in the sand once it is disturbed!. I couldn't find him a couple of times and thought he has gone up the lorry!

saw some garden eels yesterday... are they reef safe? will they topple my rockscape? is 3ft tank enough for them? tried surfing the website couldnt find much info...

I'd kept 1 for around 1/2 a year and they are reef safe. They do not topple rockworks since most of the time their bodies are buried, leaving 1 to 5cm of their head exposed from the sand.

Extremely shy, and near impossible to target feed, since they only take a bite on food that passes them when water circulates. However, very interesting to watch, esp when its trying to get food and other fishes comes along, they cannot decide to hide or go for it... :D

I used to keep it in my 2ft before I upgraded to a 4ft. The feeling is damn eeky when trying to grab them with my hands. You should have thick substrate for them to burrow.

Try feeding them with cyclops for a start, sometimes zooplanktons for a change. Over time mine got feeding with brines and mysis, eventually, flakes & pellets.

Beef up ur copepod population, it helps too.

If you ever get one, when you release, try to release them in areas that are very exposed and pray that they burrow there... otherwise u can forget about seeing them for a very very long time... :angry:

used to have a few (one after another cos UTL pretty fast) becos they are used so nice to be seen having just the head out of the DSB. But really difficult to determine whther they are still around in the tank (alive or dead) cos they can be anyway....
