modifying beckett by adding needlewheel pumps

i'm just curious...can i mod my beckett skimmer by attaching 1 or 2 needlewheels pumps?

is it worth doing it?

You can add a needlewheel to the beckett IMHO but you have to make sure the beckett body id wide enuff to accomodate the extra bubbles and turbulences. Too much of either and the efficiency of the skimmer will drop and the mod will be counter-productive.

If you wanna mod your beckett, i would explore ways on making the skimmer recirculating and having a dedicated feed pump to bring water into the body of the skimmer.

Im using an 8" body n 3 ft tall......do any of diy xpert ever tried it or think about it before?

how about remove the beckett injector,connect it directly to a smaller magnet pump n attach few needlewheels....then again it sound quiet silly,is it?it would be different concept rather then to better up the beckett performance...

err hmm than how deltec skimmer works??? thought they have an extra needlewheel pump to circulate inside the body ??

Deltec has recirculating pumps that does nuthing else apart from taking the water already in the skimmer body and injecting more bubbles into the skimmer.

You will need a separate pump to feed water into the skimmer separately.

also if you have recirculating needle wheels, the needle wheels might end up ###### in too much bubbles causing it to run close to dry....

so unless your recirculating needlewheel's intake is much lower than maybe still possible
